Elena knew she was taking to long on asking Elijah on whether if Caroline could stay or not in the house with them... and Klaus. A lot had happened this past week and Elena was still trying to catch up but she also knew she was hesitating because Caroline had been right. She was asking for her best friend to stay in the same house as the vampire that she didn't want Caroline near. It didn't make sense but at the same time Elena thought she could protect Caroline better if she was closer. Keep an eye on her.

All these thoughts were running through her head as she paced in her room for a half hour or so. She knew she needed to ask Elijah and she thought she knew how he would answer. He already had sort of offered to let Caroline stay when he bought her. At the time Elena thought it was a bad idea. It was still a bad idea. But she was going to make it happen anyways. Elena just hoped she wouldn't regret it.

Taking a deep breath and running her hands over the red nightgown Elijah had bought her, Elena stepped up to the door that connected their two rooms and knocked.
