Three-fandom Holiday Ficlet and Drabble Exchange

So to speak. Folks, I regret very much that I am not up for running the fest this year (2013). It's a bit late in the day, but alisanne is considering taking it on this time. If you're interested in participating, please comment to say so! [I myself might manage to contribute, just don't have the wherewithal to mod right now.]

Eeep! I nearly forgot to post this! The submission deadline is Saturday 15 December, but I think there are several folks who have already finished writing, so here's the header info so you can submit!

If you anticipate not having your drabble/ficlet ready for submission on time, please let me know ASAP, by commenting here or by email. Because posting will start the day after the deadline, extensions really aren't possible, so I'll need to find someone to pinch-hit if you can't finish. But remember, a drabble is sufficient -- the maximum is 2000 words, but the minimum only 100 words!

So... you've finished (or are well along with writing) your fics for other holiday or winter fests. Or maybe you didn't sign up for any, and are now wishing perhaps you had. Perhaps you would like to dip your toes into somewhat less familiar fannish waters, but Yuletide seemed too big and full of fandoms you've never even heard of.

Fear not! I bring you tidings of 3fan_holidays! All you have to do is be willing to write a drabble or ficlet (100-2000 words) in one or more of these three fandoms: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and/or Pirates of the Caribbean.

Seriously, all you have to be able and willing to write is a 100-word drabble in HP, LotR, or PotC. :-) This is meant to be a quick and fun little fest, not something to cause more stress at this season!

Sign-ups will continue through midnight (US central time) on Thursday November 29. I anticipate sending out assignments on the 1st or 2nd of December. Ficlets will be due by December 15, giving you just about 2 weeks to write - that is, like, 8 words minimum per day. *g* Posting will run from approximately December 16-24, depending on the number of participants. Posts will be made on LJ, although I will put links from the IJ and DW mirror comms. Author reveals will be made on or about January 1, as your humble mod will be out of town and probably largely offline from December 26-31.

So, okay, I'm even later than last year, but I think it's still possible to run the exchange this year IF there is interest, by which I mean at least 5 people who want to participate. Nutshell description: the three fandoms are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean. You only have to be able and willing to write ONE of the fandoms, and receive ONE (if you like more than one, great, but it's not required). Participants write a 100-2000 word drabble/ficlet, with the general prompt of holidays/festivities; only limited preferences and restrictions are permitted since this is such a small exchange. Make sense?

Tentative schedule:
Mon. Nov. 26-Thurs. Nov. 29 - sign-ups
Sat. Dec. 1 or Sun. Dec. 2 - assignments sent out
Sat. Dec. 15 - ficlets due
Sun. Dec. 16? - Mon. Dec. 24? [depending on numbers] - ficlets posting
