"Thank you, Addison," he said, the words not just rote but genuine. He was glad she seemed happy and even enthusiastic about coming over on a whim, and it made him feel better about having reached out. He was not the sort to want to come across as egotistical or reaching.
"Oh, that sounds delightful," he said as he gestured her inside, closing the door and offering to carry anything for her. "Anything creamy is always so comforting and filling, somehow." Not that he needed comforting right now, but it really did sound like it would hit the spot just right.
"The superior pasta, huh? So do we have a ranking system for pasta, or how does this work," he joked, her dimples distracting.
