Smirking in the shadows, Thad realized that Rachel hadn't noticed him still standing on his porch, his back against the wall and one foot lifted, propped up on the little patio table leg. He'd wanted to give it a few minutes before he actually went inside, after all.
"I wasn't sure you'd actually come," he admitted, pushing away from the wall and taking the few steps toward her. Reaching out, he snagged the end of that long necklace, giving it a gentle tug, desire curling in his gut. Letting his instincts and that desire take over, he closed the gap between them, his free hand coming up to thread his fingers through her hair, cupping the back of her head as his lips pressed against hers, firm and confident and seeking.
