Gareth looked up at the offices outside of Magpies stadium. After his little 'excursion' last December through a nearby Muggle village he didn't expect to even see it again. Walking through the reception area he saw a homely witch sitting behind the counter.
"I know who you are." She spoke up with derision in her voice. "Second Floor. When you reach the landing go right." She returned to her tasks without giving him a second glance. Had he really fallen that far?
He found himself in front of the owner's office and rapped on the door. "Come in." A gruff voice commanded. Gareth wasn't sure if he should be scared but he took several deep breaths before opening the door. "As you requested." He bowed. Maybe too formal of a gesture.
The Magpies Owner ushered him to an empty seat on the other side of a mahogany desk. "Well Gareth, it's been almost three months since your little joyride above Montrose, hasn't it?" Gareth nodded without utterance. "The team is doing quite well and with our recent wins we sit near the top of the table."
"I've been following." Gareth twitched, Did he just call me here to gloat? Tell me how little they needed a personal trainer?
"Alas, I feel like we are missing something." The Owner heaved. "Some of these players lack the discipline to keep themselves from partying like your father."
Gareth looked up. He wasn't sure he had ever mentioned his parentage to the front office but perhaps the required background check had turned something up. "What's your point, sir?"
The large man turned walking around his desk, "I'd like to offer your position back. Reinstated and clean slate."
Gareth looked into his dark eyes almost closed from his dimples. "What's the catch? You mentioned my father."
"Ah, you see your father and I had a chat told me you'd clean up your act." He straightened up. "It's hard not to take a celebrities word. But no, my reasons are more selfish." He looked at the wall covered in pennants and framed photographs of past Magpie teams. "Keep on the straight and narrow and help up win another League Title." He turned around offering a greasy, large hand.
Gareth struggled a moment but shook the hand nonetheless, "It's a deal."
"Good, I'll let our manager know that you're back on. You can go."
