"Ah well, it obviously doesn't matter then, no matter what yours was at birth. Good on them for adopting. Honestly though, I thought your brother Peter was the adopted one, you and Thad look a lot like your parents." It was fascinating how that happened sometimes. "I can't really throw stones about blood heritage, but my dad's parents are not a fan of the magical side, though one of my sisters manages better than I do." She shrugged as if it was water under the bridge, and most of the time it was, but the way she'd left things still didn't sit quite right. It would in time, probably.
"Well, yeah, mostly," Rori admitted, giving a bit of a shrug. "My parents recently divorced, but it's been coming for a long time, but no one is really happy about anything at the moment. I've two magical sibs, and one no-maj, there's a lot going on with it all. I tried really hard with my dad's family, but honestly once the divorce was final I just needed to get the hell out of there for a bit. Half a world away seemed to have a chance of giving the space I think we probably all need. I've got a bit of a temper when it comes to people," she added ruefully, "And don't always think before I speak. Which is why it's usually best for me to stick to the critters."
She grinned. "Probably wouldn't fuss, but I'd rather make some friends. I usually manage okay." She was determined to make an excellent fresh start here, and once she started she'd get her feet under her quickly. "That would be fantastic, thank you, Jules. I really appreciate it."
