Rori was finally starting to adjust to the new location. Granted, it was a LOT different than where she'd been in Texas last. Way, WAY wetter, certainly. And occasionally she did have a problem with the accents, though she knew that went both ways, at least.
And birthdays were always hard. Especially lately, with all the family fallout. She'd gotten owls from her parents (separately, of course) and from Madison and Austin, but Bristol was very absent.
She was trying not to think on it too much. She was working a ton right now, motly at the Notts but also a couple other places, and work soothed her. Well, the animals did, at least!
She looked up when she heard someone enter the barn, looking up from her grooming task. Misty was shedding like no one's business, and she was pretty sure she had horse hair over most of her showing skin. "Oh, hello, Jules," she greeted with a grin. Though on the quiet side, Rori already liked the younger woman. Then she blinked and gave a little laugh. "Oh wow, you've managed a surprise! I didn't hink anyone here knew my birthday was today." She felt a swift rush of gratitude and warmth at the thoughtfulness of the gesture Jules had just made though.
"Thank you so much. I am SO not picky, and buttercream is always a good choice, wouldn't you say?"
