Her eyes were red though the tears had dried up. Lucy looked up at Jaimeson when he reached the bed. Without a word, she scooted over and patted the bed next to her, careful to keep the bundle that was Twin B secure in one arm. A part of her wanted to hold Twin A, to reassure herself that one of their daughters was okay, but she hadn't been able to let go of Twin B.
With Jaimeson there now, she was finally able to let go of the bundle, handing her over to Jaimeson. "There was nothing they could do. She was gone before she was born," she whispered to him, her voice hoarse and ragged.
