Texts: Home Strange Home
Who: Fiona to Clary, Jamie, Aldrich, Magnus, and Tina; also Scorpius (as Jeremy)
What: Settling back in is strange...
When: 18 March 2028
Warnings: Likely none, tbd
Completion Status: In progress

To Clary: It feels so strange to be back home still. How are you? France was lovely, but I missed you terribly!

To Jamie: I miss you

To Aldrich: I've been worried I think I was in France long enough to actually miss you. Lunch soon?

To Magnus: I booked an appointment with you for next Wednesday but can we do lunch soon? I missed you while I was hiding relaxing in France!

To Tina: How are you love? I've missed you! Lunch soon?

Jeremy
Hey! How are you? This weather is gorgeous. Hoping you're enjoying it too. How's the pup?
Tbh I'm missing France. The weather has improved here, but it's nothing like in France. Have you been?

The pup is doing quite well! He's stopped trying to leave me with only right-foot shoes, at least, so we're counting that as a win. How have you been?
He must have thought you'd look fantastic with a peg leg. A life as a pirate may have been in your future if he kept it up. Hopefully you didn't loose too many shoes to his chewing.

I've been really good, started my own business with my best mate. Renovating homes. We bought our first home to flip. It's exciting to be actively working towards a dream.
I certainly hope that wasn't his aim! I'm not sure I could pull off a peg leg and eyepatch. You can't be a pirate without an eyepatch, right?

Oh wow! That's exciting! Has house flipping always been a dream?
It's an unspoken rule. Pegleg and eyepatch. Only the best have both, and you'd obviously want to be one of the best. Like Anne Bonny... though she didn't have a pegleg or eyepatch. I might not be on to something.

It hasn't actually. I've never had a dream job in mind? Kind of a shiftless layabout as mum calls me. I got really into fixing things after Hogwarts, so my dad got me a bike to try my hand at. I've been working on it ever since. I love that thing. What about you? Have a dream job in mind?
Yeah, probably not...

Well, it's good you've got goals now. I'm a bit aimless myself at the moment. I've done a lot of social work, and my heart's still there, but sometimes it's a bit much.
Have you tried volunteering anywhere? My mum had me volunteer for a bit. I picked one of the animal rescues. It was cool being able to work with the animals. at least til I got fired....
I've done lots of volunteering. I think I might like to work with kids, but I'm not fully decided yet. It's a big decision.
Why such a big decision? Your next step doesn't have to be a huge one. Do something you find enjoyable. Though, I may be overstepping and I apologize if I misunderstood
Because I've already taken quite a bit of time to do things I find enjoyable, and what I really want is to make a positive impact on the world, starting in those little ways on the individual level. Does that sound terribly arrogant?
It doesn't sound arrogant at all. It sounds like someone that wants to make a positive impact on the world. There's not many people in the world like you. You're a special sort. Most don't care about the world around them, they are far far too focused on their own soap opera of a life to see past to the bigger picture. I'm one of them
Well thank you for that. I'm not certain there's anything wrong with people focusing on their own lives though. It's just easier to ignore mine Do you really think most people's lives are like a soap opera?
Usually at some point or another. Maybe not to the extent that soap operas get to, like Grace is pretty wild. I'm sure it happens though. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Mine has been at times I suppose. Is yours like a soap opera?

That's probably a bit too personal, isn't it?
Eh, I don't think it is? Too personal that is. There's been a few times it's felt like a soap opera. I mean... we just found out my best mate is my sister's kids father? So that feels a bit soap opera like. hurt too
Oh! That's a lot! Sometimes the things I hear about my oldest brother's life sound like a soap opera but he brings it upon himself a lot, I think. I prefer my own life a bit calmer than all that.
I would like my life to be calm. It doesn't seem at the moment that's in the cards. sort of dating a quidditch star the house remodeling business, my sister just had her second baby, lots going on. I wouldn't mind a weekend of doing nothing for a change.
Doing nothing gets quite boring after a while, but hopefully you'll get your break from the chaos soon.
You wouldn't be interested in grabbing lunch sometime would you? Maybe at a park, take the pup out. It'd be a great way to do nothing for just a small bit. With some great company.
Like as a date? Umm sure, that sounds like a lovely idea. And I know the pup will enjoy it loads!
I can bring sandwiches from this deli I know. Have any favorite meats? Or do you not do meat? I'm a terrible friend, probably should know that.
Not a terrible friend at all! It's not as though we've spent loads of time together for you to pick up on that sort of thing. But no, I'm not a vegetarian. I like a classic cold cut, lots of veggies, just no green peppers. Too bitter for my tastes. And I prefer honey mustard for the sauce. I can bring crisps and drinks, if you like?
Yeah, that'd be perfect! Do you have any park you like better than others? I tend to find myself at Hyde Park.
Hyde Park is lovely. When are we doing this?
When are you free? Seeing as I am my own boss, I can work around schedules. Albie works nights at the bar so we try to use week days and days in general to work on the house. So maybe a weekend day?
Albie... Albie Potter? Your best friend is Jamie's How about the first weekend of spring? Next Saturday, the 26th?
I think that's perfect, it will hopefully stay warm. I can bring my mums picnic blanket that has heating charms just in case.
Lovely. I'll see you next Saturday then :)

I'm certain Clary will understand.

Lol no I mean the place for sale is down the road from *your* cottage, not down the road from where *they* live 🤣 I'm sorry I wasn't clear! But whaaat?! Kenzie and Jasper?? That's so... I'm not sure how to wrap my head around that one.

Oh, I am too. I'm just anxious about it. She helped me out in a tight spot.

OH! Yes, down the road from ME.🤣

I.. Don't know either. They said they aren't dating, but they are something. I heard her call him her twin flame still, which is just.. It's all very weird. They look happy, as happy as they ever are? It's just so weird, after watching them grow up together. Sure, Uncle Coop made the jokes here and there, but did we ever think it would actually be a thing? They were practically siblings and sort of are now!

You really ought to find a way to shake off the anxious (I know, I know, pot/kettle!)

I am really glad to have heard it from you first rather than spotting them in the act. I'll know to be cautious when they're about.

Do you know how many times I've debated if I could just leave a letter? It's terrible, she's family. I'm just being silly.

I wish I had gotten the heads up. I likely would not have gone back for my phone if I had. They don't seem to be... hiding it.

I'm sure she's noticed your stuff migrating back home. Maybe just set a date and let her know and make sure to set a date to hang out with her after?

That's so strange. Think your mum and Hype know? It's hard to imagine him not knowing, especially if they're not being particularly discreet.

That's a good idea, maybe a nice dinner or something. I can cook. I haven't felt much like going out

Uncle Hyperion knows everything, so I feel like he likely already knows. I doubt mum has noticed though.

See, she'll love that!

Well, your mum is wildly pregnant by now. So strange to think there'll be another baby about soon, and a cousin (sibling, in your case!), at that! You'd think it would be one of us by now. Mum has started lamenting the lack of grandchildren again. I bet your mum won't be grumbling about that to any of you anytime soon!

She hasn't mentioned it, though she's happy I'm moving on. She seems to really like Liam, and somehow he fits right in with the family. I think it has a lot to do with his quiet being a lot like my own.

If you'd like, I can send mum over to visit yours. I'm sure getting some pregnant belly time might keep her from wanting grandchildren anytime soon. I mean, they could still give you lot a youngest sibling.

That's fantastic! You should do a small dinner party once you're fully moved back in at the cottage. Just us quiet, calm ones so no one decides to overwhelm the thing...

I doubt you need to do that! I'm sure mum's been having Aunt Zee over plenty. She's been so excited about the new little one, but I can't imagine her and dad having another now. They were so set on having us all close together right away. I feel like she's pretty set on grandchildren!

Definitely, I don't need jasper and kenzie making out.. I'll figure it out. I still need to have a girl's night. I've got a list. I may need to move sooner than later.

I'm sorry you weren't as lucky as I.

There's plenty of time for all the things!

Don't be, I want kids it's all in good time, and my mum's not being a pest about it.
