"That may have been part of it," he answered with mock seriousness. He wasn't fussed about flowers, but he could admit that he liked having them about if only because they made him think of her. As if his mind wasn't entertaining thoughts of her eighty percent of the time already.
Thad grinned at that, the corners of his eyes crinkling. "Yes, but it's my job. One I'm usually quite good at, even. I don't expect to catch it every time, but first game of the season? After such a huge win last season? Yeah, it stung a bit." But he wasn't going to obsess over it anymore. He'd amped up his training and would work his tail off to ensure he didn't have another game like that this season.
Ducking his head down, he brushed a light kiss over the tip of her nose. "Let's eat, though, yeah?" he suggested, as reticent to pull away as she seemed to be. Still, the sooner they ate, the sooner he could get her naked. Finally pulling away, he slipped into the kitchen for utensils and drinks. "Do we still have any of that orange fizzy stuff?" he asked as he opened the refrigerator.
