The last few weeks had been a very pleasant blur for Sofía, her time at St. Mungo's whizzing past. It was all down to Bash, of course, and things might have been very different if he was actually the curmudgeonly bastard he liked to paint himself as. Except he wasn't like that with her and somehow that translated to her spending almost every night in his bed.

Every day was a learning day in more ways than one, another piece of a maddening puzzle. The more she got to know him, the more she was sure that this sort of thing wasn't normal for Bash. (It definitely wasn't normal for her!) If she had to guess, she'd probably say that he was never with the same woman more than once or twice, though that made him sound promiscuous but she didn't think that was true. What Sofía didn't know what the sum of all this meant. Was Bash going to lose interest the second she wasn't in his lab any more?

The sensible thing would be to mentally prepare herself for this to have an end date. Yet here she was, barefoot but dressed for work, in his kitchen making coffee.

Hearing footsteps, she sighed with a little annoyance. "I don't need supervision brewing coffee, you know," she remarked, pouring out Bash's black coffee. He'd seen her brew far more complicated things. A beat too late, she realised she'd gotten far too comfortable in this house and that wasn't Bash. Wide-eyed and shrinking a little into herself, Sofía managed to conjure up a tiny smile.

"Hi."

It was a bit earlier than Liam might normally be up, but he knew he was going to need to put in extra time at the lab today for a project which was in a precarious stage, and he would much rather get the extra time in early rather than staying late. As such, he was already dressed in dark trousers, a blue oxford, and a dark grey jumper and was heading to the kitchen for a spot of coffee without giving much thought as to the comings and goings of his siblings and any guests they might have entertained overnight. After so long of living together off and on, they'd all mastered their silencing charms, after all, and so most of the time, he wasn't even aware if Bash or Isla had a guest.

The voice that spoke as he reached the kitchen was one in which he was decidedly not familiar, though, and the words brought him up short. Realizing that the girl must have assumed he was Bash, if only because he'd seen glimpses of them together over the past few weeks, he couldn't help chuckling under his breath.

"Well, I wouldn't put it past Bash to think you might. He is rather possessive of the coffee," Liam noted with amusement, feeling a bit bad at the way she seemed to make herself smaller. Was she worried he might think ill of her or be mean to her? That just wasn't his way. "He'll have to live with my stealing a cup, though," he added lightly, moving into the kitchen and going to the cupboard to get his favorite to-go cup down.

Sofía was dying a little inside. She would never intentionally be snarky like that to someone the first time she met them. If there was the slightest chance that they hadn't been meticulous enough with their silencing charms, she would expire on the spot. Scarlett's sage advice about being vocal about what she wanted was apparently entirely unneeded, Sofía having discovered over the last couple of weeks that it was in fact much harder to stop herself from being vocal when Bash had his hands on her.

But if his brother had heard...!

"I don't know," she said slowly, "he's not caffeinated yet. He might not take the news too well." She stepped out of the way so that Liam had space, her smile growing less tense as she thought of Bash. "I've never met anyone who's more of a coffee fiend than me."

She couldn't shake the feeling that she was intruding in someone else's home. "I'm Sofía. I'm Bash's..." Oh dear, what was she? "...Sofía."

"I imagine he'll take it better coming from you," Liam remarked, his tone light with the barest hint of teasing. He simply couldn't help it. It was entirely unlike his brother to not only entertain women at home, but to entertain the same woman consistently. Not that they had the sort of relationship where they discussed such things, but for all that Liam was an introvert, he did pay attention more than his brother probably realized.

Liam made quick work of doctoring up his coffee before stepping back out of the space so she could continue what she was doing there. "Ahh, you've not met dad, then," he said, letting his eyes go a bit wide for dramatic effect. It wasn't meant to be mean, and he could always use the fact that he'd not had his coffee yet as an excuse, right?

Bash's Sofia. Gods, what would Bash say if he heard the young woman referring to herself in that way? He couldn't help wondering if his brother truly had finally found someone he could actually care for. Dagny finding someone hadn't surprised him in the least, and he'd always been serious-minded about relationships, but Bash? He'd fully expected Bash to be married to his work indefinitely. "Liam. Bash's big brother," he offered, in case Bash had failed to tell her about the family, which wouldn't surprise him. "It's good to finally meet you," he offered in a friendly tone.

"Perhaps," Sofía relented with fondness. He never seemed to be too grouchy with her in the morning, though she wasn't particularly enthusiastic about waking up either.

She really hoped that was a joke about her meeting their dad. Sofía was too scared to even step foot in Pucey's Potions right now, sure that she would say the wrong thing to the wrong person.

Like calling herself Bash's Sofía. She should have said 'just Sofía', that would have been more reasonable. The second it slipped past her lips, she started to blush, her golden complexion turning pink. But was it really terrible that she sort of maybe kind of liked the way it sounded?

"I did guess that you weren't Isla," she admitted, pouring herself a black coffee. Sofía had seen Bash's sister very, very briefly the first time she had visited the house. "It's nice to meet you too. Finally?" That put her a bit on edge. "We haven't disturbed you, have we?"

Liam was getting the distinct impression that even the light teasing was too much, and perhaps he ought to back off. He didn't actually know her, after all.

"Ooh, astute! People mix us all the time," he said, rather proud of himself for keeping a straight face through the words, though he broke right after as a grin stretched across his lips.

Of course, she seemed awfully tense then, and if there'd been any question about what she and his brother had been up to before, there was none now. He was much too much a gentleman to comment on it, though. "Not at all. It was just obvious someone was cheering Bash up some. He bought pastries for the house recently. We were worried the world might be ending," he joked lightly, hoping to put Sofia at ease again.

"Yes, I hear that can be an issue with twins," Sofía managed to quip, fighting through her embarrassment. Liam was being so nice - why did she have to be a nervous wreck? She'd never dealt with this sort of morning issue before! Sofía couldn't even try to channel someone else with more experience: What Would Scarlett Do? Probably not get herself into this sort of situation in the first place.

What Liam told her brought a more genuine smile to her face. She remembered that day. Bash had gone to Sweet Nothings while she was in the shower and come back with coffee and more baked goods than two people could reasonably eat. It had been romantic. "Rumour has it that he does actually have a heart." Realising that she had poured a little too much into her cup and would likely spill it when she carried it upstairs, Sofía lifted it carefully to take a sip. "I wish he wouldn't do that. Paint himself as a bad person."

Sighing dramatically (and perhaps channeling a bit of his twin in the process), Liam said, "Story of my life." Though, to be fair, they had looked quite a bit alike when they'd been babies and young children. Of course, puberty had done plenty to widen the gap in their appearance, as their genders became more pronounced, and now new people often couldn't even tell they were the same age. It had never bothered Liam either way.

If he were a betting man, Liam would say Sofia was rather smitten with his brother, though he couldn't begin to see the appeal. That was how the world worked, though. "Well, mum's been insisting he does for years, but it's nice to see a hint of it," he said, hoping that the teasing was still showing through. He might give Bash a hard time about his prickly personality, but he did love his brother. "Hmm, I'm not sure he sees himself as a bad person so much as a rather antisocial one, not that I've got time to psychoanalyze him this morning." He chuckled, glancing at the clock to gauge how long he had until he needed to get to the lab. "The point is, you've been good for him, and I've enjoyed seeing him happier lately."

She was good for him? To Sofía it seemed as if Bash had been good for her, bringing out parts of her that she hadn't even known existed. Her cheeks felt warm again, this time with pleasure.

"It would take more than just one morning to analyse him anyway." There were probably a few people out there who'd think that she needed some psychoanalysing after hooking up with Bash. Spotting Liam glance towards the kitchen clock, she picked up Bash's coffee mug. "I should get this upstairs. It really was nice to meet you, Liam."

Did she think she knew Bash so well already? That was an interesting thought. He'd have to remember to tell Isla and Dagny about this interaction and get their take on it all. "And you, Sofia," he returned with a small nod, watching her walk away for a moment before turning back to the kitchen. A bagel should do just fine, he thought, putting thoughts of Bash's love life out of his head for the time being.
