Since the arrest, Penny had kept her shop closed. Scarlett had been told she'd receive full pay, but that she had the week off. It was Friday when she got the go ahead that she could go back into her shop, and so a message had been sent to Scarlett asking her to join her at the shop on Saturday to get the shop cleaned up so that they'd be able to open back up on Monday.

Penny had arrived at the shop after her morning run, dressed in a pair of soft pink sweatpants, matching crop top, and running sneakers. Her long locks were pulled back into a high ponytail and she found herself without make-up. She wanted to get started cleaning, she had had nightmares for days about aurors finding her secret room. She had needed to see for herself that everything was still there. Only after she had swept multiple times for any sort of surveillance. She had found a couple of different bugs that found their way into her burning cauldron.

Much to her relief, the secret room was left untouched when she did finally step inside. It was as she was coming out and relocking everything that she heard the noise of Scarlett in the shop. "I'm in my office," she called out to her only employee, adjusting her glasses. "How have you been?" she asked as she turned away from the wall behind the sofa in her office to face the door.

Having a week off in which she was being paid to do nothing was rather perfect, in Scarlett's opinion. The less work she had to do, the better, and she'd never understood people who felt differently. She did, however, feel a small sliver of obligation when Penny called her in to help get the shop back in order to reopen on Monday.

When she went into Bazaar's Curiosities, she couldn't help cringing at the mess the Aurors had made. The ruddy bastards! Despite her curiosity, she'd not managed to get the whole story of what had happened, and she hoped Penny would tell her today.

When Penny called out to her, Scarlett went to the office, leaning against the door frame. The glasses threw her off for only a brief moment before she was answering her. "I spent my week fucking my way through Taboo, so I can't complain," she said rather crassly, certain that Penny wouldn't mind the candidness. They'd met at Taboo, after all. "And you?" Though she doubted Penny had had a good week.

Her eyes grew wider with shock at the crass answer, though that was the only indication that she was surprised by her words. "How is Taboo without Eve? Phoenix was ridiculously selfish when he took her," she said, wanting to make small talk. While she definitely wanted to talk about her own weekend, she was curious about Scarlett at Taboo for a whole week. Rather ingenious though, paid to have orgasms. She wished she'd had a boss like herself at her age.

"I spent most of the week in bed with my girlfriend, that part was rather fantastic," she did her best to sound as nonchalant as she could. "Though I've already hired the lawyers I need, getting this whole mess cleaned up. I'm never hiring another moron like again," she said with a soft huff. She was already trying to figure out just how to repay the favor to River. It wouldn't be long before she'd be paying him a visit.

After the Aldrich fiasco, Scarlett had desperately needed a return to normalcy, which meant sleeping around as much as she was able, and since starting to work with Penny, she'd been able to upgrade her membership at Taboo without having to rely on someone to pay her way. It was a good feeling, if she were being honest with herself. "Different, certainly, though Iris has been stepping up with the hostessing. She's quite good at it," she answered with a small shrug, giving credit where it was due, and not only because Iris was Kenzie's cousin.

It was Scarlett's turn to give her a wide-eyed look, surprised at that. "You've got a girlfriend now?" she asked, not having expected that from her boss. Penny had always struck her as similar to her, far too wild to be tied down with one person. Unless that was literally tied down for a night of fun. "Wait! River caused all of this?" she asked, pushing away from the door frame and waving a hand carelessly toward the mess of the main room of the shop. She hadn't heard that bit yet.

Iris, of course she had stepped up. Penny yearned for just the briefest moment to pop by Taboo. See how Iris was doing, maybe catch a show. Now that she did indeed have a girlfriend, she wasn't entirely sure that was something that she could do. She might need to look into using her membership with her gorgeous girlfriend. Before the woman was leaving her for the circuit.

The surprise from Scarlett gave her a laugh. "I don't know how it happened, but Hailey and I... Are doing this," she finally got out, a genuine smile on those full lips. "So I don't know that me checking in on how Iris is running Taboo would be a good thing," she said with the most dramatic sigh. "Technically I was arrested for drugs, which we both know I'd never touch." at least not like that, not in a crate for anyone to touch. "It was easy to track down once I got out."

It took a moment for Scarlett to place the name, despite being as close with Kenzie as she was, but when she did, she groaned and rubbed her hand over her face. "Kenzie is going to be insufferable!" She'd been insisting that there was some epic love story just waiting to happen between Hailey and Penny for ages, and now that they were giving it a go, it was only a matter of time before Kenzie gloated about it.

"That little fucker," she said under her breath. She'd truly believed she'd had River wrapped around her finger, but she'd had no idea he was smuggling drugs through the shop. She wasn't sure what she'd have done if she had known, but she didn't want Penny going down, as that would put an end to her easy money.

A surprised laugh slipped from Penny at hearing Kenzie's name. She doubted it was any other Kenzie than Kenzie Montgomery, Hailey's little sister. "Why will she be insufferable?" she asked cautiously, if only because she was certain most people in Hailey's life hated her. She was positive that her old roommate, and Hailey's cousin, Athena Montgomery hated her. There was a reason she had not been to see Hailey at her own flat.

That little fucker was right. Penny intended to find him, what she was going to do with him once she did was anyone's guess. Instead of causing alarm, she just gave a shrug of her shoulders. "Now we have to clean up after the morons, unfortunately. Fortunately for me, they didn't find whatever it was they were actually looking for," she said with a sigh, one hand on her hip. "I should follow you out there, we can get started in back room and then work towards the door. That way we have someplace to put broken things without just piling things up," she said, rambling just a little in instructions. She wanted her shop back to it's splendor again.

For the briefest moment, Scarlett looked at Penny as though she were an idiot, and then she realized that Penny actually might not know. "Oh my god, she's been obsessed with you two forever! She's had it all built up in her head that you and Hailey have this epic love story and are soul mates or whatever. It's disgustingly saccharine," she admitted with a short, light laugh. She'd always thought it was naïve, but considering her own parents' love story, maybe she shouldn't. They seemed as madly in love now as they'd ever been.

Catching herself this time, Scarlett did not sigh or roll her eyes, even though she wanted to. This was not the sort of work she'd signed up for, and in truth, she didn't actually work in the shop very often, but considering the opportunity Penny had given her to work the games, she supposed helping clean this place up was the least she could do. And it probably wouldn't be the end of the world if she did need to work in the shop more while Penny searched for a replacement for River. "All right, then. Let's get it done." At least they would have magic on their side. They should have things cleaned up rather quickly. She hoped, anyway.

Epic love story, soul mates, Penny felt her stomach drop. Were they those things? Is that what she meant when she told Hailey that she was her person? She supposed those words what she meant, but Gods how they struck fear in her hearing someone else use them to refer to their relationship. The relationship that was so new, far too new. She didn't know what to say to all of that, so instead she just laughed softly with Scarlett. Lord, were they that mushy?

Thankfully they could focus on cleaning, her wand was back in her hand as she stepped out of the office. They'd make quick work of it, enough that they'd definitely have their doors open the following day. "Alright, I'll clear up over by the South African shelves," she said moving further into the shop. At least now she could keep her thoughts occupied, no thoughts about how very official things might be with her new girlfriend.
