He laughed. “Eh, trying is for goody two shoes.” Albie grinned at Lucy. He was generally happy in his life, even if he wasn’t living up to his so-called potential. That was his real ambition in life, just to be happy. He didn’t need fame and riches or a fancy job title, none of those things had ever appealed to him. Climbing a ladder to a higher office or getting certificates to stick on a wall wasn’t going to give him satisfaction. Albie would leave that sort of thing to other people. “I’m trying to picture a world where I’m like you or Lily.” He smiled sweetly. “At least this way I make the rest of you look better.”
Although Albie hadn’t worn his most recent one today, he also appreciated the handmade gifts. This year, his had been the most horrendous shade of eye-burning neon green and he loved it. “Maybe she’ll do matching family ones next year.”
