It was simple enough to follow Penny back, once she was seated across from Penny at the table, those dark eyes looking across at her, Hailey began to doubt herself. Was it really wise to be socializing with Penny when she'd done so well avoiding her over the past few months?
She realized a few beats too late that Penny had asked her and Jaimeson a question. "Oh, you know, just out celebrating a big win for this weirdo," she said with a negligent shrug. She wasn't about to bring up the whole drinking his problems away part of the night, and it was true enough that they were celebrating his winning custody of Bells.
Being a Muggle poker game, the process was more than a little strange to Hailey, who noticed more than once a small spark of magic from the other side of the table, but she didn't comment on it. Besides, it seemed that whatever magic Penny was playing at was benefitting her in the game. What was she really playing at, Hailey couldn't help but wonder as she won yet another hand. She'd never been terrible at poker, but she never really expected to win.
