Although his mum often took Evie for at least part of the day, she'd had something going on with Aunt Gen today, and so Hans had a pint-sized co-pilot helping him run the shop today. Fortunately, things were rather slow at the Purrfect Fix, which meant he didn't have to divide his attention as much between his daughter and his customers. Which was a very good thing, as his toddler did not love to be carried about as much as she had before learning to walk. And she'd only become more stubborn about it the older she got.

Hans supposed he should be proud of her independence, but he couldn't help but feel that pang of pain at it at times, too. Evie had so much of her mother's free spirit in her, and that was so much of what he'd loved about Mary. But she would never see these milestones in their daughter, and that continued to break his heart. But today was not the day for getting lost in the grief again. He'd decided that he was only allowed small blocks of grief on the important dates because his daughter needed him fully present in her life.

Currently, Evie was cuddled with a large orange cat in the front window of the shop, basking in a sunbeam right along with the feline. Hans leaned against the counter, ignoring the administrative tasks he could be catching up on, as he kept an eye on his daughter and waited for any customers who might come in.
