"I could say the same thing about you," Iris said with a sly smile, unlocking the door. There wasn't much of an entrance way, just a cloak rack that she'd never used. Stairs led up to her flat and to Scarlett's above that. "They were using this flat as storage for the shop," she explained, careful to lift the garment bag enough so that she wasn't dragging it up the stairs. "My aunt manages Higher Grounds so when she heard the McLaggens were going to rent it out, she let me know." It was a convenient connection that had come at just the right time.
The door to her flat was still a little stiff from two decades without much use but Iris hadn't got around to fixing it yet. She had to give it a little extra shove. "I still want to decorate a bit, but it's got all the essentials."
