RP: Last Minute Shopping
Who: Liam & OPEN
What: Liam put off the last of his Christmas shopping.
When: 23 Dec 2026
Where: Honeydukes/Victory Road
Warnings: Likely none, tbd
Completion Status: Open, in progress

Two days before Christmas had to be the worst day to finish up one's holiday shopping, Liam thought with a sigh as he weaved through the thick crowds ambling around Diagon Alley. It wasn't as though he'd put all of his shopping off until today. It was simply that he'd found it impossible to figure out what to get his mum and sister. Maybe they shouldn't be so difficult to shop for, but they were to him. It was only fair, though, as he assumed he was terribly difficult to shop for, as well.

The Alley was impossibly crowded, and though he wasn't generally prone to anxiety, Liam was quite eager to be out of it. Thankfully, most of the shoppers seemed to be in jovial moods, the holiday spirit apparently strong. It helped, some, that holiday music trilled from the shops as he passed them by, pausing at points to look in windows, hoping that the perfect gifts would magically appear along the way.

With a sigh, Liam ducked into Honeydukes on Victory Road, thinking that, if nothing else, he could get them each their favorite sweets. And maybe inspiration would strike while he looked through the confections.

"What do you get a family off Quidditch fanatics?" Harrison exclaimed looking around at the selection in Honeydukes. He had promised himself that he was going to do his shopping early this year but the season had kept him on the move and he had barely gotten a chance to do his normal probing and snooping on his family this year.

Looking away from a jar full of licorice wands he noticed Liam Pucey sifting around the shelves. "Liam!" He called over the crowd, at least he wasn't the only one frantically trying to find last minute gifts for family and maybe Liam would at least help the anxious feeling.

At the exclamation--not a common occurrence in a shop even when it was bustling at Christmastime--Liam lifted his head from the candy he was considering to see what was going on. And then he heard his name, and his head turned toward the man. It took me a few beats to place the face, Harrison being so much younger than him. But he was always happy to interact with a friendly face.

"Hey, Harrison. How's it going?" he called back when Liam had come close enough that his voice wouldn't disturb too many of the other last-minute shoppers.

"Trying my best to pick up some last minute gifts for the family." He picked up a box reading, "Peanut brittle Broomsticks: They really do fly!" That was a thought have several broomsticks flying around the house while everyone tries to catch them. He sighed, "It's a little difficult when your entire family does Quidditch."

Harrison had already turned in his last scouting report before the holidays and the last think he wanted to think about was work regardless of how integral it was to the fabric of his family.

"Same here," Liam said with a sigh. And then he chuckled when Harrison became completely distracted by the confections. "Yeah? I'd think that would make it easier." Though he'd thought that not all the McLaggen's were in the Quidditch world. He wasn't keeping tabs, though, so he'd take Harrison's word for it.

"Just depends on how outlandish you all get for gifts. My whole family is into potions in some form or another, it seems like." Isla's gift was with food, but cooking was so similar to potions work when it came down to it, and of course mum was a healer, but the point remained. "Doesn't mean I want to give them potions-related gifts. I like to tap into their other interests, if that makes sense." He was just having a hard time pinning things down this year.

Harrison flushed. It was hard to admit that he had been so busy with work that he'd forgotten about shopping for Christmas. "That does make sense though." He agreed trying to think about his siblings and their other interests were.

Skye kept mostly to herself and Hunter was a busy as he was with the current season. he tried to think but aside from a plethora of world quidditch player miniatures his brother didn't own none of them thought of good idea. "So what are you getting them this year?" He asked out of curiousity.

Well, that was something. Liam was glad it made sense, and he wouldn't want to befuddle the other man anymore than he already was. "Uhh," he hedged with a soft chuckle before shaking his head. "I'm still trying to figure it out, honestly. At least for my mum and sister. I got my brother a high quality bottle of bourbon." And spent a shiny sickle on it. It might have seemed impersonal, but he knew Bash would enjoy it.

"Maybe Skye would like a new quill. She does write a column and probably goes through them more than she might get on." He'd have to stop by Flourish and Blots for that. That just left Hunter, the apple of their father's eye and star player for the Magpies.

He hadn't heard much from his brother except for when they played the Kestrals but even then they managed to grab a bit after the match ended. "Maybe, I might see about getting him a new traveling cloak. Godric knows I could use one myself. It's practical and I know for a fact that his is looking like it's been chewed through by pixies."
