Re: The Introverts Table - Clary & Hans
"Same," Jules said with a soft sigh, worry a tight vise around her heart. She hoped that her friend would be safe tonight, that she wouldn't do anything risky in her attempt to bury her feelings. Turning, she looked out over the dancefloor, wondering if she might spot Hailey and give her a big hug and congratulations, and she didn't even get to finish that thought before her eyes landed on two dark-haired women snogging on the dancefloor. Was that Penny? And Iris?!
Gods, what a mess this night was promising to be, she thought with a sigh, her eyes ticking over again just in time to see Orlando walking in. Maybe there was a way to turn it around, after all... "I'll catch you later, yeah?" she said to Clary, standing up then leaning down to give the shy girl a quick hug before departing.
It would not have been Hans' preference to go out to a club late on a Saturday night. And yes, he knew how much he was aging himself by referring to nine o'clock at night as late. But this was rather a special occasion and mum and dad had jumped at the chance to babysit Evie overnight. Just in case, they'd said. It would be better not to wake her anyway, but he had no intention of bringing anyone home even without his daughter there.
But Hans was proud of Hailey and wanted to celebrate her big win. And besides, Clary and Tina had said they were coming out, and so it felt like a bit of solidarity to come out and keep them company amongst the more... loud personalities in their extended honorary family. He'd found Hailey rather quickly after arriving, giving her a hug, and she'd directed him to the balcony table. When he got up there, a young woman he didn't recognize was hugging Clary and excusing herself, and he looked back and forth between the two after the woman walked away.
"Was she one of ours?" he asked. "I didn't recognize her, but we do have a few hundred people to keep track of, don't we?" he quipped, hoping to get a smile from his sister.
