Albie took a moment to toe off his shoes and let them clatter to the floor. "Yeah?" Her tone of voice told him plenty and he had a feeling that they were venturing into comfort food territory. "Anything I can do?"
He shifted a little closer to her. "Hi," he said, realising he should have opened with that. Lifting his arm, he put it around her shoulders, mindful of how sort she might be feeling. "I'm sorry I couldn't come over last night." He'd been working when the Winstagram post had dropped and his phone started blowing up with notifications. Albie had long since given Maria her own distinctive message tone, though, so he'd known exactly when she'd seen it.
