Reaching out, long fingers curled around the calf of the leg Beau had used to nudge him. His blue eyes were a little sad and a little tired, but he was sober, and this was the sort of thing that needed to be navigated carefully otherwise it might blow up beyond what Beau was ready to handle, and then where would he be?
Sighing, Nate set the vial on the table next to him, letting it go for the moment. "Coming out is a huge decision, especially with where you are in life," he pointed out gently. Beau had built his life, his career, on his own denial, his refusal to live true to himself publicly, and it was something Nate had never fully understood, though he'd always tried to respect it. "I've wanted you to do it for over a decade--you know that. And I'll be right by your side helping you through it if you do decide to do it, but we both know there will be consequences."
Probably not professionally, but personally. As far as Nate knew, it had always mainly been about Beau's family and how they wouldn't accept him, but by Nate's way of thinking, they already weren't accepting him because they didn't know the true him. He'd always been of the mind that Beau's family might surprise him if he would just give them the opportunity to love him for who he truly was.
