Angel was now more convinced than ever that this was some kind of prison world. They'd hit back at the Senior Partners and they didn't like it, so now they'd stuck him here in this...hell. Wesley was alive here, from before somehow. Faith was here too. She'd become the leader he always knew she could be. It wasn't even the zombies that bothered him. It was Buffy. Some way or another, it always came down to Buffy. Buffy was here and she was a vampire, but if Faith was right, not in the same way he was. Maybe she still had her soul. Maybe. 200+ years on this planet and Angel didn't know how to handle this. Faith didn't seem that concerned, she had a prison to run. Angel got that. Faith had her own stuff to deal with. But this was Buffy. And he couldn't help feeling a slight annoyance that Faith wasn't even willing to help him. What could she do to help him, though? What could anyone do? It wasn't like there was a magical cure to not be a vampire anymore. Well, there was. But that ship had sailed and Angel was the only one with the knowledge of that one perfect day. He thought about it from time to time but thought about it now more than ever. He couldn't protect her as a human. That was why he'd gone back. But he couldn't protect her as a vampire either, it seemed. He knew he shouldn't have blamed himself for something that happened before he'd gotten here, but he did. Angel was big on guilt. It was part of his curse. He was standing on his own, outside. He didn't know where to go from here. He wanted to find Buffy, to talk to her. To let her know she was not alone. But would she even want to see him? What if reaching out made things worse? Times like this he wished Lorne was here so he could sing for him. |
