Things had calmed down a lot since the New Year’s Eve party and right away Reid lost his entertainment. The network had been bombed with post after post about stupid shit and he had laughed through most of it. Once the boat had been burned things were slow and he got bored. Nothing ever good happened when Reid Garwin got bored but usually he had Tyler to get into trouble with. Ty was gone now and that was probably for the best but now he was stuck dealing with Caleb and Pogue on his own. Surprisingly he hadn’t been too much on the naughty list these days. Back home? That would have been a different story. Here he just fucked with people at the local haunts Everett had to offer and spent most of his time either raiding or in the witch sanctuary that all the witches shared. That was where he was tonight. Reid was growing some herbs and he was infusing them with magic to give them that extra boost. It didn’t take much but it did drawn in some attention. What he hadn’t expected to see when he glanced back over his shoulder was Chase standing there with that stupid fucking grin on his face. Fuck, he hated him. “Can I help you?” Pogue's words still grated on Chase a bit, asking him why he didn't live at the prison. Maybe because no one would want him there. Something that he was entirely fine with. It's why he lived out in the projects, on his own. Teaching himself how to fight. Even if using was something that he was used to. It was an itch under his skin. An addiction that wanted to rip free, but he did his best to ignore it. He'd decided to go out and do a bit of exploring. It's not that he hadn't been doing that since he got there, but he hadn't fully taken stock of everything. There was Fangtasia and he always enjoyed the company there. Even if most of them were vampires. It didn't bother him any. Like he'd told Pogue, just don't piss off the bartender. Tara was more likely to tear you apart than welcome an apology, but who knew. Maybe he was wrong around that. Something brought him to the witch sanctuary and he gives a bit of a grin when he sees Reid there. Not that he'd expected it. Why would he? "No, you really can't. I just decided to explore the area a bit more, Reid. I'm not here to cause trouble." It wasn’t like Pogue was wrong. If Chase was trying to be on team good then what the hell was he doing out in who knows where among the rest of the baddies by himself? It just didn’t make much sense. And it was also another reason why Pogue and Reid didn’t trust him. Caleb was trying to which was weird as fuck so the boys had to remain cautious for him. “Good boy.” Reid rolled his eyes and turned back to his plants and smirked. “Wouldn’t want Caleb having to deliver another ass whooping.” Nothing made sense to anyone these days, especially where Caleb was concerned. Pretty boy was making a deal with the devil and his boys didn't like it, that much was obvious. Not that he cared about them liking the deal or not. Only thing he cared about was getting in the golden boy's good graces. "I'm not worried about Caleb kicking my ass," he tells him with a bit of a smirk. "I'm a little more worried about you and Pogue trying to take me out than I am pretty boy kicking my ass." Only because when Tyler had been there, he'd tried to get Chase to will him his power. Was going to carve him up real good too. He watches Reid for a moment, "Besides, I've kept up my end of the bargain. I know you and Pogue don't think I'll be able to keep that up. But I've taken to other ways of protecting myself." Even if he was going through a bit of withdrawal. It actually hurt to not use. But he was trying, if only because he'd made a promise. “At least you’re smart.” No, Chase didn’t have to worry much about Caleb coming after him but he did have to worry about Reid and Pogue They had trust issues that went deep and Reid had even more issues that no one even knew about. “You tried to kill Caleb and make him will his power over to you. He might be able to think you can change but we don’t. And when you fuck up? We’ll be there waiting.” Tyler was an idiot too but that was mostly the boat food that made him go after Chase. “Till then you can sit pretty. We won’t touch you.” Honestly? Chase wasn't all that worried about Reid or Pogue either. At least, he wasn't all that worried about Pogue anyway. Reid was a whole different ball game. Though, he understood their trust issues. If he were in their shoes then he'd have trust issues too. He wasn't though, so he had no such issues. "I know what I tried to do." It comes out almost a growl. He didn't need a reminder of it. The past was in the past. Not in whatever this future was. If they kept reminding him of it, he was bound to go back on his deal. Was bound to give in to the addiction that was burning through his veins. He gives a bit of a laugh," Planned on it. Just try not to get eaten while you're out and about. Last thing pretty boy needs is to lose anyone because of zombies. Or the vampires around here." Reid smirked at the sound of Chase’s little growl. Oh, he tried to hide it but Reid knew how frustrated that Chase had to be. Chase was the reason that Caleb worried so much about Reid. Reid was practically just like him when it came to wanting power. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the joint playing with it between his fingers. “You don’t have to worry about me. I can handle myself. Everyone knows that.” they still worried about him but they all knew how capable he was. “Here. Take this. Might help with the cravings.” at least the joint would mellow Chase out. "Sure you can." Whether or not he believed that was a whole other story. Reid seemed a bit... unhinged wasn't the right word for it. However, he did remind Chase of himself a little. "No, Reid, everyone doesn't know that. You know that. Your brothers know that, and maybe that's all that matters." When he's offered the joint, he can't help but give a bit of a laugh," Not my kind of thing. Besides, you might need it a bit more than me." Reid shrugged. So what if Chase was right. He didn’t care about Chase and if Chase thought they were going to be one big happy family he was wrong. “I guess.” Reid shifted the joint between his fingers and smirked. Reid could control his urges. Wasn’t like he was the one out there trying to get people to will him their power. “I do just fine pretty boy.” Chase can't help but give a bit of a smirk. If Reid thought he had better control of things, he was mistaken. In the eyes of the eldest witch, the other didn't have much control at all. However, that was neither here nor there. He had no illusions that they'd become this big happy family. The elder could handle Pogue and Reid hating him for the rest of their lives. Caleb was a different story and he hated himself for that. "Guess we'll see." He gives Reid a brief smile before turning to head right back out. At least, now, he knew where the place was. Not that it was hidden from him or anything. It just served the purpose of having a place to be when no one else was. For now, he'd stick to the projects though. Away from everyone else. |
