Another potential rule? Oh noes!
Dropping threads. This has become a pet-peeve of mine. I've been in so many games that allowed this to happen on a regular basis, and it was annoying. In fact, the last game I was in did it about 90% of the time, which left much to be desire, IMO. Especially for those who enjoy re-reading scenes.
I mean, it's really grating/disappointing when you're reading a really great scene and it just ends abruptly (generally two or three posts in). No closure. No nothing. Not even a brief OOC synopsis to let you know how the scene ended.
I realize that sometimes life gets in the way, but most of the time it happens out of sheer laziness/loss of interest. I've dropped threads before, we all have, but I think there it should be a rule to finish scenes before moving on. A one month rule would be reasonable, I think.
"If you don't finish your scene(s) within one month, you and the other players involved either need to write a synopsis on how it ended OOCly or finish it ICly. If OOCly, post a link to the thread/scene." Or something to that effect. Lol.
Personally, I don't like moving my character(s) along if their previous scene(s) has/have no closure. I'm always worried to discuss whatever happened in that scene ICly, because I don't want to assume what the end result was. And it's sort of like it never happened, which sucks.
(I know I could ask OOCly, but the point is, is that I shouldn't have to. Lol. None of us should, for that matter.)
Sorry for rambling on and on about this, but no one ever lists this as a rule. And it really makes me wonder why, because it's just common sense/courtesy. Start a thread/scene, finish it.
Please don't feel obligated to make this a rule or anything, though. Lol. I just thought I should mention/suggest it, because I think it would make the game run much smoother in the long run.
I guess I'm just getting anal retentive in my old age. xD
