Who: Silver, Open
When: Friday, June 13, 2008
Where: Backyard
What: Talking to herself
Status: In Progress.
Rating: TBD.

Diana wandered the backyard aimlessly. Part of her was hoping to run across Tabitha, part of her just needed to get out of the house. She had been starting to get that squirly feeling that meant she should get outside. It used to mean it was time to hunt down Troy and go swimming but he was acting weird. She should have known that things would be weird despite Troy's reassurances otherwise. If only she had known before that they were together. She would have NEVER hit on him then and things would still be cool. Now she felt even more like a ghost around the place, with even less of a connection to people. She wasn't one of the adults but she was way too independent to be like one of the other students. She just was... and felt like she kind of fell through the cracks. Not one thing or the other.

So now she wandered the backyard muttering to herself, studying, different languages. It was one of her odd habits. Wandering about practicing a new language, saying strange things to get herself used to and comfortable with the new tongue.

"Mon ami a couru loin parce qu'il n'aime pas l'eau verte" Her mind was still on Troy and she scowled and picked up a rock to toss it.

"No tengo gusto de los huevos y del jamón verdes cuando tengo hambre" She chuckled to herself at the Dr Seuss reference her previous comment reminded her of.

"Die rote Katze aß meine Ratte, weil ich meinen Hut verkaufte" She continued in the theme of strange rhymes. At that she thumped down on the grass and started pulling up some of the rare long bits to braid and fool around with as she continued cycling through the languages she was studying, using whatever strange phrases came to mind.

Die rote Katze aß meine Ratte, weil ich meinen Hut verkaufte = The red cat ate my rat because I sold my hat (German)

Mon ami a couru loin parce qu'il n'aime pas l'eau verte = My friend ran away because he does not like green water (French)

No tengo gusto de los huevos y del jamón verdes cuando tengo hambre = I do not like green eggs and ham when I am hungry (Spanish)

"Shorter I's on the meins." Victor Creed suggested. Victor had spent the better part of the past two months getting his own life and thoughts organized before he could even consider assisting anyone else with their personal matters. If it hadn't been for Myra, he honestly hadn't a clue where he would've ended up.

He knew he had to talk to the whelp eventually. Diana Geist; the young girl he had been speaking to when he'd been attacked. Sway had helped him to recall the details about why he had been interested in the girl in the first place. But now, seeing her up close, it all seemed pretty obvious. By God, she was the spitting image of Lianna. He had no idea what she knew or what Lianna had told her. He planned to ask a few questions before letting on to very much. "Ya busy?"

Diana's head snapped up in surprise as Victor spoke. She actually hadn't noticed him walking up. That was... unusual. "You speak German?" And damn her for letting that information make her feel better about learning the language herself.

She looked down at the mess of grass before her and then back at Creed. It was obvious she wasn't busy, and usually she hated stupid questions. However she was of the mind to give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he just wanted to give her an easy way out if she didn't want to speak with him. She glanced to the school. She remembered the last time she had spoken with him. "Maybe we should go somewhere that your not likely to be attacked for speaking with me again?" She didn't want to see anything like that happen any time soon.

Of course that caused another issue. She had promised Troy she would stay away from him. Of course loads of things had changed since then. Things she hadn't talked with him about. Of course HE was too wrapped up with his BOYFRIEND for her to feel comfortable bothering him, especially after hitting on him. Which meant her time had been spent more with Tabs. That girl was impulsive recklessness wrapped in a nice explosive package. Some of that recklessness was rubbing off on her. She stood up. "Because honestly, I REALLY don't want to see that again."

"No one's gonna bother us." Victor said, happy that the young woman wasn't against speaking with him. Both the X-Men and the Brotherhood had been steering clear of him since the attack, so he was fairly confident of his statement. Xavier seemed to trust that he wasn't the same wild animal and Magneto was keeping his distance. Probably because Victor didn't really remember him.

"But we can go somewhere else if you want." Sabretooth didn't want to make Diana anymore uncomfortable than she already was. But he did want to stay out in the open, so nobody would get the wrong idea about his intentions.

Diana gave a slightly incredulous look, then glanced back at the mansion. She shrugged lightly. Maybe he was right. She hoped so, because there were some things she wanted to know and interruptions wouldn't help. She was a bit nervous though about talking about this though. It was difficult to figure how she should feel about this.

Of course him offering for them to go somewhere made her realized that she had no idea of a good place for them to go. The brotherhood dorms were way off limits to her, and going in the mansion would just increase the chances of them being bothered. "There's some benches and chairs near the pool," she suddenly said. It was at least away from a place that reminded her of what had happened last time. In fact, right now she really wanted that comforting smell of chlorinated water. She headed over in the direction, pausing to take a nice deep breath as they got closer. Yeah, she loved that smell.

'Okay, the pool... Whatever.' Victor thought in the back of his mind. They neared the spot and he noticed the benches and chairs she had mentioned. There weren't too many people around, just a few students horsing around in the water. He walked toward one of the benches and let Diana sit first. Victor sat on the other side leaving as much distance between the two of them as possible.

He had no idea how to start this particular conversation. Everything was pretty screwed up. "When is the last time you saw your mother?" He had no idea of the woman's fate since the epidemic.

There was a small smile as she looked at those playing in the pool. She should go swimming later. Maybe see if Tabs and Troy wanted to join her... and Will too if he wanted. Right now she had to figure out who the man next to her was in relation to her and exactly what that meant and how she felt about it.

The opening volley hit her hard. Sure she expected questions about her mom, but this specific one reminded her of what had happened the last time Diana had seen her. A dark shadow seemed to cross her face as the smile was wiped away. She bit her lip to keep it from turning into a scowl. She still remembered it as if it had just happened and it still hurt, a lot. She did NOT want to cry in front of this guy. No way did she know or trust him enough for that. Her entire body tensed in repressed hurt and anger and she took a moment before finally answering. "About three years ago, more or less."

Victor could see the turmoil inside her, he didn't have to be a telepath to know how she was feeling. She was hiding her fear of him pretty well though. He was used to people being uncomfortable around him.

Victor pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket when she spoke. Three years. Huh. Nothing recent, he didn't know if that helped or hurt his cause. After removing one of the white sticks he put it in his mouth and lit the end. His hand extended toward her with a smooth swing as he offered the pack to Diana. "Is that when you came here?"

With her residual anger at her mother and her nervousness about this whole situation she really wasn't interested in pussyfooting around very much. Hell she hated that shit most all of the time. Diana didn't really feel like sharing much of her life with a stranger, especially since there was a lot she hadn't even told her closest friends. So instead of answering the question she waved off the cigarettes with an unconscious wrinkling of her nose. Yay, foul smelling cancer sticks. What was next booze?

"What does it matter?" She replied. "To you I mean." Then she continued. In for a penny, in for a pound. "Before... everything." The whole lobotomy thing. "You said that I looked a lot like a Lianna Skule. My mother's name is Lianna, though it was Geist, and maybe if I hadn't been still half asleep due to the hour, I might have thought of the possibility of her changing her name. Which of course occurred to me later and makes perfect sense seeing as she never said a nice word about my father. So... you think I look like a Lianna who most likely is my mother and I want to know how you know her and why she OR I matter to you." Sometime during her talking it became less of an explanation and more of a demand.

Christ, did he really need this? Victor took a long drag of his cigarette and returned the pack to his pocket while she was ranting. He turned away for a moment to blow the smoke in the opposite direction of the girl, but mostly did it to smirk at the 'she never said a nice word about my father' part. Might as well get this over with, he thought dismissing most of her demands.

"Okay, listen. Your mother and I were together eighteen years ago. Geist was your mother's maiden name by the way." That little tidbit had popped back into his head recently. "I was working for government, secret agent man bullshit. We lived in an apartment and I came home to see her between missions and trips. Some shit went down, I guess right after you," were made? "happened, and she found out I was a mutant. She went batshit on me when I came home. Tried to run me out. She was waving some kind of paperwork that came in the mail at me, had my shit packed, throwin' crap at the door. It was a proposition from Weapon X, a project that worked with mutants and said so, explicitly." He rolled his shoulders and sat back into the bench before taking a drag of his cigarette. "She didn't want a mutant boyfriend, and apparently she didn't want a mutant roommate, either. So I took off and joined up. Figured I might as well embrace it. And besides, the domestic life wasn't for me." He grinned at this part, slightly baring his still-pointed teeth. The idea of working as an agent for the government and ducking into an apartment every few nights to bang a human chick probably didn't sound domestic to many. "So, say hello to daddy." He gave her a half-salute / half-wave off the top of his forehead and his eyes shifted back to gaze over the length of the pool, as if he was disinterested in the whole situation. He just didn't do well with feelings, and he had a hunch there were going to be some headed his way.

She had stood up when she was making demands, and found herself sitting again once Victor was done speaking. Mostly, she felt numb. It was an answer she was expecting though a good deal more detailed than she expected. That was nice and made things make a lot more sense. She decided to share the favor, pushing down whatever emotional backlash there might be when she thought about this some more. "Yeah, well, she didn't want a mutant daughter either, and she let me know that the first time I turned silver." By trying to shoot her with a shotgun. Silver was pretty sure that meant she wasn't welcome at home anymore. Diana swung her feet and looked over to the pool. "I was on my own for a bit, then Brian," she corrected herself. "Dr. Braddock, helped me out of a tight spot and brought me here. Been here ever since."

She looked over at Creed. "So, hullo daddy, wanna help me learn to fish?" she said sarcastically. She couldn't help it much. All those years she had been without a father. A father that she might have been able to go to when her mother flipped out, or maybe not ... remembering how he was at first. Even now, listening to his story, he was hardly an ideal father. Then again she doubted that she was much of an ideal daughter. "Though, honestly, other than just to know, does it really matter?" She asked with a shrug. It did to her, but she was hardly going to put herself out to get hurt. "I'll be technically an adult in a month, and you really don't seem to be the fuzzy warm type to care much about familial crap." She whispered to herself. "Not like I'm known for that either."

Well, she took that better than he thought she would, especially after the way the conversation had started out. It was a lot of information to process all at once. Victor was a little surprised she was joking around so quickly, but Diana seemed tougher than she looked; probably a byproduct of living with Liana for so long. God knows she wasn't the most mothering type.

Dr. Braddock, Victor made a mental note to mention something to the man later. He stood himself, he knew there was a possibility she wasn't really his daughter. A blood or DNA test would be the only way to be sure, but he didn't think it mattered. With the state of world, what would it hurt if they each thought they had a little bit of family around?

"No, it doesn't change much..." Generally at a loss for words, Victor tossed his cigarette to the side and took a step closer to his child. "But at least you know." His head fell to the side as he found it hard to look directly at her. "And if you wanted to get to know me better... I know I wasn't very approachable before." Understatement. "But I'm different now. Like I was when your mother and I were together." Victor glanced back toward Diana. This was about as sappy as he got, he hoped she wasn't expecting more.

There were a lot of things in her past that led to Diana being the person she was. Truth in fact, she was a bit glad that her mother had 'raised' her to be so independent. That meant that when she was forced to be on her own, she was able to adapt.

Creeds first words didn't seem too encouraging. What he followed up with was a bit better though. She looked out at the pool. She wanted to know him better and yet she didn't. Spending time together would mean he got to know HER too. She wasn't sure if she could handle getting close just to be rejected again. She shrugged. "You weren't that bad before." At least not to her. "Of course, you look a lot better what with the shave and such." She could understand why her mom might have liked being with THIS Victor Creed. "And not beating up my friends is a pretty good change." Though that had been before he had come to the mansion. Well, other than the Angel episode, but Warren really wasn't one of those she considered a friend. More of an acquaintance.

It seemed that there time was coming to a close and she wasn't sure how much longer she could keep being calm about this whole mess. Right now she wanted to, no needed to talk to a friendly ear that she could trust. That left two people high up on her list. Troy and Tabitha, both who already had some idea about the situation.
