Lorna beamed widely as she walked with Simon, the sun shining bright on them both. She'd employed a sunhat to keep the evil UV rays off, but that didn't do anything for her lover. A few shopping bags hung from her arm, and a rather large (and expensive) purse as well. It had been one of her major splurges, because she loved it so much.

They were taking a break from their busy lives to spend a week in the sunshine together as a Valentine's Day treat. Plus Lorna was getting a spa treatment here, in preparation for Emma dna Scott's wedding.

Lorna arrived at Simon's place, and knocked on the door. She adjusted her slinky dress, and hopped her hair hadn't gotten out of hand in the ten seconds since she'd exited the bathroom.

She wanted to look perfect for this night. Tonight she wasn't going to let her past hold her back, and she wasn't going to hang on to old emotions that served no purpose anymore.

It was time to embrace the present, and look to the future.

Lorna sat on a bench, wearing three day old clothing that stank of beer and God only knew what else. Her eyes were puffy, from where she'd been crying, and she had a few bruises that she didn't remember getting.

All in all, she felt pretty shitty. And that only made the fact that she'd had to call on someone she'd hurt sting more. She wasn't worthy of this help at all.

It had been a couple days since she'd made her decision. It was best for both of them, really. She didn't want to keep using him, and that was what was happening. Even if he let her, even if he knew it was happening, it still wasn't right.

Beside, he deserved much better.

But she wasn't despite years of being on various X-teams, a confrontational person at heart. And she felt as though she needed time to think about this, to be sure it felt right.

It didn't, not completely, but it felt better than progressing in a relationship where she would rapidly reach her emotional limit.

She took a shower, and dialed her God box, hoping Simon was in the tent for the night.

Lorna popped into her apartment, and made a beeline for the shower. She was still covered in dirt and sweat, but it was a good thing, really. It meant she was back to doing what she loved, instead of what she felt obligated to do.

She ordered a pizza, and looked through her dvds, hoping to avoid going to the video store.

Her DVD collection was quite extensive. No doubt they'd find something to watch.

Lorna sat at the computer chair for a little bit, and then walked. Her legs were weak, but not as bad as she'd expected. She focused for a minute, and a spoon flew toward her, proving that the machines that faked her powers were still working.

She looked out the window for a minute, before drawing back. The sun was too much. It was all too much, really.

She sat on the couch, and curled her legs up against her chest. How could her body feel this good, and everything else be so bad? Best not to think about it, her guest would arrive soon.
