The sun was warm as Fred sat down on the beach with Chase in her arms. It was the perfect day for a beach party and picnic. And all of them really needed it, too. Ever since the children had gone back, almost two weeks before, there hadn't been a quiet moment on Atlantis. If there wasn't projects to do or reports to write, there were missions to go on. Luckily for the city, their alliance with the Sangui had opened the door to them become allies with other races, which meant a lot of off-world travel for the alpha team and Sam.
It was decided, by Sam, all of them was to take the day off. When they asked their leader if she wanted to come with, she had declined, saying she was going to help Paul with some things.
Fred was just glad to have a day off and to see Rodney was there. He had finally gotten back to his old self, finally.
Shaking her head, she reached over and pulled out the bottle of sunscreen so she could put some on Chase. As she did so, she looked up and laughed as she watched Alex, Callie and Molly run up and down the beach together. She then looked over at Daniel, who had brought a volleyball with and was teaching Teyla and Lis how to hit it.
It was the perfect day. Especially since her husband was shirtless. Fred could never get enough of that.
Once she was finished with Chase, she handed the sunscreen to Caitlin, who was holding Erin. Fred stood up and walked out into the water, where Jennifer and Finn was standing. The little boy was giggling and splashing water on his mother's legs.
"When do you and John leave for Omaha?" Jennifer said in reference to the invitation the two of them had gotten for a test flight at the base there.
"Tomorrow. So have you gotten sick of Rodney yet?" Fred asked as she dipped Chase's feet in the water. The baby squealed in delight.
Jennifer laughed and shook her head. It would seem Rodney had become quite accident prone over the last couple of weeks and spent a great deal of time in the infirmary.
"He never lets me touch him. It always has to be Carson," she said with a shrug.
"He has been spending a lot of time with Carson and Caitlin," Fred said as glanced over to where Rodney was standing, talking to Caitlin.
"Are you sure? What if she slips out of my arms and drowns?!" Rodney said.
Caitlin rolled her eyes. If she didn't adore Rodney so much, she would smack him right now. "Then don't take her out so far," she said.
"You can drown in less than a tablespoon of water!" Rodney retorted.
Caitlin groaned and rubbed her forehead. Carson? Tell Rodney Erin won't drown.
