Sam raised her eyebrows in amusement when she saw her husband and sensed his pride at having beaten Ronon at sparring. The look he then gave her before he left almost made her groan out loud - every since she had started her second trimester, she was finding it almost insane how easily she was becoming aroused by things Daniel did. But she forced herself to take a breath and calm down. There was too many other things that needed to be done.
"Never thought I'd see the day where anyone other than Teyla would be able to beat Ronon's butt," John said with a laugh. When Sam looked over at him, he put his hands up. "What? He's gone. I can laugh now."
While Rodney headed out of Operations to head down to medical and John went to speak to the other exploratory team leaders, Sam called the Daedalus. Caldwell agreed to stay in orbit of Hestia once they arrived the following day. Sam knew that this would mean that Al, Sammy Jo and Sam Beckett, if they got him back, would have to stay on Atlantis for a few weeks until they could use the Gate for travel again, but she was sure they wouldn't mind. After everything the other Sam had been through, he would probably need at least that amount of time to acclimatize.
She was just finishing when Tim and Radek came hurrying in, the look on Tim's face one of an eager puppy-dog. Snorting softly, she hurried out of the control room to meet them.
"Fred said the Project Quantum Leap people arrived," he said.
Sam nodded and introduced them to Al and Sammy Jo. "I need you to set up a dampening field in the tower that we can throw up at a moment's notice."
"We're on it."
The crystals appeared in the Gate room, telling Sam that Fred would be back up soon. Heading back up to the Control room, they made sure that everything was locked down with the Gate for the time being so that everyone could work safely. Sam then opened the citywide PA system and announced that the Gate would be offline for a few weeks following an important retrieval operation. When she finished, she saw Al looking her way with a grateful smile.
"All right, what can I do to help?" she asked as she hurried down the steps with a grateful smile.
"I could use another set of eyes with recalibrating this," Sammy Jo said, pointing to her retrieval device.
