Work (Open to hospital types)
The fun had gone down quite a bit in the hospital since one Doctor Wilson decided that he was going to check in on Hannibal and Simon. That all requests needed to be sent to him as well. The experiments had to stop. Well, at the very least, Hannibal could only use the stuff he'd gotten before the Wrath Of Wilson.

He sat in his office, wondering if he could acquire new things through Dr Cameron. She was his underling. Perhaps if things went through under her name, Wilson wouldn't pitch such a fit.

Hannibal looked toward the cage that harbored the monkey. He'd done a lot since the last time he'd talked to Simon, and would have liked to discuss the newest discoveries, but he hadn't seen Simon in a very long time. Another reason why he was bored.

Actually, he hadn't seen River either.

It seemed to him that nothing significant or fun had happened in The City in a very long time.

Perhaps it was a speak of the devil situation. Or the City simply knew one of its prized possessions was lonely. Either way, while once more looking for his office - it had been some time since he'd actually had to go looking for it - the good Dr. Tam once more walked into the wrong office. He blinked at the man he loathed, the one he tried to avoid. This wasn't happening; he'd been having such a good time of things, even if they were more than a little quiet. It was just work, Jennifer, sometimes Jake, and work - with a little sleep thrown in.

Chinese fell quickly and darkly as he shook his head. Whatever he was saying was a curse. Now who and what he was cursing really didn't matter; it was bitter and showed just how much his fine day was ruined.

"Hannibal."

Raising his brow, Hannibal turned and greeted Doctor Tam.

"I was just thinking about you. How strange." He nodded over to the monkey. "I managed to make him mortal. I just thought that you might like to see that before I return him to the pirate he came from. I'm sure that after he goes back he won't be alive for very much longer."

He didn't miss the displeasure in Simon's eyes or expression, he just chose to not acknowledge it.

"Yes, strange." Simon looked over at the monkey, brow raised. "You made it mortal? How?"

Simon walked over to the monkey and looked in the cage; the thing still had a bad temper whether it was mortal or not. But at least now it didn't seem to mind the bananas and other fruit bits it was eating. It seemed to like them even more. Or maybe less. It was hard to tell when the damn thing was happy other than when it was causing trouble.

"I have to be completely honest and tell you that it was pure accident. I was fooling around with the zombie serum and the cure, and I added something else to it and injected the thing out of spite. The next thing I know, it's not healing any wounds and seems to actually get enjoyment out of the food it eats. It's been generally less of a bastard, as well."

Hannibal got up and retrieved the notebook they'd been using to keep all the experiments on the monkey and handed it over. The newest experiment shouldn't have worked, scientifically speaking, but then - the immortality of the monkey wasn't exactly scientifically reasonable either. It could have just been the City's way of playing, he supposed.

Or maybe it was some kind of apology for spreading the zombie virus.

Either way, Hannibal had stumbled upon something and he wasn't quite willing to let it go.

"I obtained a mouse." He nodded to the smaller cage by the window. "I was just considering if I should try to replicate it all."

Simon stared at the monkey a little longer; it was now going to die, which made him sad almost, almost but not quiet. He took the notebook without really looking at it for now, his eyes still on the monkey, but then..

"Yes, because the last time you experimented on a creature didn't end up creating any problems at all, did it?" Dr. Tam snarked at Dr. Lecter. It wasn't snapped so much as sarcasm flowing rather freely. His eyes finally dropped to the notebook, and he found the page with new information. He heard the monkey chittering and gave the thing a bit of apple that was sitting on the counter. Thankfully the monkey didn't bite or scratch him while grabbing for the fruit.

"Perhaps you should be thankful you found a 'cure' at all and let it be. I haven't exactly been around to follow your research, so if you get turned into a zombie or something worse, I won't be able to help." Simon didn't look up at Hannibal; he was busy deciphering notes and working out equations. Yes, it was very much an accident. What happened shouldn't have happened at all. Then again, the undead monkey was a oddity all on its own.

"You could be right." Hannibal admitted. "I should just leave it all alone. It's enough that the pirate will finally be able to kill the thing. I've done a good deed to make up for the mistake."

He said it very clearly without the s on the end. There were few things that Hannibal thought were mistakes, but leaving the zombie serum out where it could be misused, even if that part of it wasn't his fault, was definitely a mistake.

He nodded a little and then looked at Simon.

"What should I do with the mouse, then?"

"Give it to River." Something finally sank in. "You made it mortal, just so it can be killed?"

Simon was only slightly shocked by the revelation, probably because he had heard it before. It just seemed odd that the other doctor would actually go through with letting something die. Or perhaps not. His lips pursed as he looked at Hannibal.

"You can't just hand it over to be killed. We're doctors. Even if it's not human, you can't send it to its death. Don't know what you should do with it, but we took oaths." The monkey looked between the two of them as if it understood it was topic of conversation. Then again, it rarely wasn't topic of conversation.

"The monkey wasn't given to me to keep. I wanted to run tests on it, and I did. I don't think there is anything else that I can do, no more experiments to run. According to the agreement, I should give it back now. Giving it back means that it will eventually be shot at, as that's the Pirate Jack's favorite thing to do with the monkey. It being mortal now means that if it's shot it will die."

Hannibal looked Simon in the eye. "The logical conclusion is that I give the monkey back so it can die. What else am I supposed to do with it? I don't want it. Certainly not now that it actually has to be fed and cared for, there's no telling what diseases it harbors. Death could very well be the kindest thing to do for it."

He looked at the monkey then, enjoying it's fruit. "Since it's not mine to dispose of, should it not be up to Jack to decide the best way to do it? Oath or not, there's still the fact it does not belong to me. Or to you."

Simon looked at the beast. "Yes, diseases that you were very fond of injecting it with."

Simon didn't want the hairy beast, and he had no doubt it had more than its share of diseases that could take down villages if it were allowed. He shut the notebook, sighing. Hannibal was right in that the thing wasn't his, and it wasn't Simon's. Neither wanted it, and perhaps the best thing would be to let it die.

"Logic is..." Simon mumbled a few choice curses in Chinese, and the monkey laughed as if it understood. Dr. Tam didn't like it. "Now that it is no longer useful, it is none of your concern?"
