Sometimes I wake up from a dream repeat and I'm like 'oh yeah I was a child soldier' and I start laughing but it's not actually funny I'm just kinda messed up

It was not uncommon in the time period my dreams are set in for children to join the service as children, and I had thought little when I had joined at the age of twelve, though luckily I never actually dreamed of those years.

But needing to write to the family's of the children who died under my command is still one of the hardest things my dream counterpart needs to do.

I am sorry that you have to dream of such a thing.

Somehow, that makes it even worse. At least the children in my dreams know what they're signing up for, as much as children can, at least.

I'd say my dream self's consequences are somewhere in between there. People get hurt, or villains go free and move on to take people hostage and remove people's ... powers, you'd call them.
