Re: Rock and Femme B-Sides
Hey! We welcome an intelligent music lover! And thank you for the response. To be honest, I was not expecting one. So many people never bother.
And since we are talking shop -
1) Thought Zombie might be a little overplayed. I typically try to stay clear of iconic songs. Case in point: Janis. Though a few top charts slipped onto the radar sheerly because "Classic isn't always tasteless".
2) Has got to be my absolute favourite version of this song. Arguably the best live performance.
4) Sort of a One Hit Wonder in that regard. This is one of those classic femme rock songs you simply cannot ignore.
5) See above. Just part of the education.
6) Love, love, love Lita Ford. And Joan Jett.... I feel a return of the mix beginning in my bones.
7) Thank you for the honest response. I quite enjoy the song's heady tonality but it can fall a little flat all the same.
8) There will never be another singer like Etta James. I know this breaks my ruling on top chart hits, but I must link you to Leave Your Hat On because if you have never heard it, you will thank me. If you have, you will know what a good selection it is.
9) I do not mind the mellow so much. But seems to me you prefer something a bit more upbeat, yes? Might try this one by Peggy Lee. Still jazzy mellow but with a bite.
10) Spooky is brilliant as well. Son of a Preacher is quintessential Dusty, though.
11) I admit my favoured range of music is from the 50's through the 80's. Highlights in the late 60's, so that is where a lot of this list has come from.
