Who: Katie & T
What: Dog tackling, crab racing, it's a zoo in here.
Where: Katie's flat.
When: Sunday afternoon.
Warnings: Probably none.
Status: In progress.
To be honest, Katie was very up and down about being home again. Well okay, mostly she was down. She hadn't really wanted to leave Mexico at all. A week with just her and Charlie, all alone on a gorgeous beach in a perfect little hut with sun and sand and pretty much no clothes had been... well, perfect. Everything she'd needed. And she knew it was selfish, and something akin to running away, but she hadn't wanted to leave. What was waiting for her at home? A job she could no longer do, a family that was broken up by loss, a flat for her to sit around in and mope all day... and Quaffle. If it had been entirely up to Katie, she would have come back to get Quaffle, brought him back to Mexico and just stayed there with Charlie forever.
Unfortunately, it wasn't just up to her. It turned out she'd accidentally packed her journal, though she hadn't found it until Saturday because she hadn't had any need to go into her bag until then. This morning she'd glanced inside and seen what Bill was writing about... and she'd had to show it to Charlie. Of course, he'd wanted to return as soon as he'd seen it. She couldn't begrudge him that, wanting to be there for his older brother, how could she be upset? Still, she'd been reluctant to return, but Charlie's obvious need had convinced her, and here she was.
She'd gone back to her place and Charlie's to his (she assumed), and now Katie was alone for the first time in over a week. Or rather, without Charlie by her side for the first time in a week. She didn't think she liked it very much. Katie, tanned and with even blonder streaks in her hair, sat on the sofa and absentmindedly stroked Quaffle's fur. His enthusiasm over her returning had distracted her for a good hour or so, but now it had worn off, and she was kind of lonely. She missed the beach and the ocean and Charlie. And here, back at home with all the reminders and without him to distract her, she missed Quidditch, too. Normally when she was depressed, she flew, and she couldn't even do that. Her arm twinged just at the thought.
So it was probably a good thing T was coming over, really it was part of the reason she invited him. She wasn't really in the sort of mood to be alone right now, and she needed some way to occupy herself until Charlie came over tonight. Was it bad, to be so attached to him? She couldn't decide, and she didn't really want to think about it right now. T was on his way over, and she could give him his brilliant gift, and maybe she could stop thinking about running back to Mexico for at least a few hours.
