Terrence had not anticipated the crabs' difficulty with simply getting out of the starting circle, nor how slowly and haphazardly they'd proceed across the grass once they got started, but that just made the whole thing more hilarious. The excitement from him, Katie, and Quaffle didn't seem to affect the crabs at all, who climbed on each other's backs, wandered in one direction only to stop and greet another crab, and in some cases stopped moving entirely without having gotten more than halfway to the finish line.
There were literal tears of mirth in his eyes when the pink crab he'd bet on settled down right close to the finish line without crossing it, and the blue started poking at its legs, trying to climb over it. "Fight 'im off, Pinky!" he shouted, breathless with laughter. "Get up, you lazy sod, you're so damn close - oh, bloody hell, I think she likes being climbed on."
