I miss my mabari now. I hope Carver's not being mean to him back home.

Merrill, want to help me find a replacement? I promise I won't let him sleep on the bed. Not often, anyway.

First Anders, now you. Why does everyone want me to help them find pets? It's much nicer than some of the other things Anders asked us to find, though.

Maybe I should consider a career in pet-finding.

If he'd made us spend even five more seconds in those sewers, I would've punched him. Hard. Just saying.

Guess the reason we keep asking is because you seem to be really good with animals. That, and I kinda appreciate your opinion - I mean, I guess we're dating, by this world's standards? I could've phrased that better.

Do you know how his ritual went? He said Justice is still with him, so... I suppose not well.

I do like animals. Let's go look for mabari. Should we ask Varric to come?

It... didn't go too well. I think something exploded instead of them being separated.

Well, we do live in his house, so... it'd be best if we did. That way he can figure out if he can teach the new one how to gamble.

Exploded? Oh dear. It wasn't him, was it?

Did the old one gamble?

No, it wasn't. It was something in the Chantry.

He did! He played an amazing game of Wicked Grace, thanks to Varric. Tended to give the game away with his tail, though.

Oh... That seems like a strange side effect..

I asked Varric to teach me once, and he said I was hopeless.

You're too honest for gambling, Merrill. I think that's part of why I like you so much.

I hate to break it to you both, but mabaris don't exist here. There's breeds that look similar, but none so smart.

They do, however, lay Wicked Grace at [Club] in Freeport, in the Bahamas. Tell them the pirate gave you the address.

That's just sad. A world without mabari who can gamble? What next?

I'm sorry, Aunt Hawke, I didn't mean to do it!

...Aunt Hawke? Oh, you must be the kid Isabela was talking about!

Didn't mean to do what? Make me miss my mabari?

Yeah, I'm her son. And what, did you think I'd call you by your first name? ... does anyone call you by your first name?

Yup! I told Mum about how you spoiled it, so it's my fault. You could get a pitbull, they're sort of close.

Nobody does, except Carver. Even Merrill calls me Hawke.

Bet you can't teach them how to gamble, but it'll be nice just to have a dog around again.

Eee, Aunt Merrill's here too? She's so sweet.

Probably not, but maybe you could teach him to play dead? Pretend to throw a fireball at him or something.

She is. I keep worrying I'm going to corrupt her half the time...

...That actually sounds really adorable. I'm definitely going to give it a shot.

Even you couldn't do it entirely, I don't think. But I really don't want to think about ... oh, bloody hell, ew -

you should! They're extra cute animals, too, see?

Don't think about your aunts doing things, that's just wrong.

Oh, Maker, now I want one. I need some more adorable in my life.

You brought it up!

Yes, you do! Especially after all of the gloom from Kirkwall. You and Mum tell the best stories. Aunt Merrill usually talks about rabbits and then worries about them getting lost in their warrens.

I just said 'corrupt', you filled in the gaps. Proves you're Isabela's son, if anything.

We had amazing adventures, despite Kirkwall being so dismal. Can't blame Merrill for just talking about rabbits, though.

... okay, point. But still, I had to go look at baby ducklings to make my brain go again.

They were my bedtime stories when I was little. And of course not, rabbits are lovely.
