Sobriety sucks.

[Locked from Sophie, Hardison, Parker, and Eliot -- But of course, hackable, by Hardison cause Nate isn't good enough to outsmart teh Geek.] A thousand dollars to the first person to get past the guards and bring me a bottle of whiskey.

[Edited by Hardison ([info]nanasaiddont, at 10:55 EST]Okay, folks, Mr. Ford's up past his bedtime. Thanks for the concern.

Which is, in a word, illegal.

By whose laws, Mr. Ford?

By the laws of Man, Inspector.

Do you not know the definition of 'involuntary'?

I'm aware of the common as well as the legal definitions, Mr. Ford, including the usual set of circumstances applicable when a person must be involuntarily committed because they present a danger to themselves or others.

Are you?

I hope he never will be again, ma'am.

No need for ma'am, Ms. Devereaux works fine. And if he is again in the future, he goes right back into detox. Or worse.

Worse? I'm not sure he can imagine anything worse than that, Ms. Devereaux.

Inspector Meg Thatcher, recently of the RCMP.

Oh, he might not be able to. Luckily the rest of us have very active imaginations.

A mountie? Dare I ask how you met Nate?

I'm currently separated from the Force, given the circumstances of my arrival here.

We met, shall we say, when he was feeling sorry for himself, and I thought someone should keep an eye on him that evening. So I did.

You're welcome, Ms. Devereaux. Though partial credit also goes to the wolf. Diefenbaker, that is.

Diefenbaker. Some years ago, my partner attracted the attention of an Arctic wolf. While he was away on business, he left Diefenbaker in my care, which meant that when I went to LA to keep an eye on Mr. Ford, Diefenbaker came along.

An Arctic wolf makes for persuasive arguments at times.

I see. There's one tactic we hadn't considered. Intriguing.

I'd offer Diefenbaker's services, but he's not my wolf, and my partner's recently returned from Saskatchewan, so I can't imagine either of them would consent to another separation any time soon.

A kind offer, but we'll see how our current methods work first.
