The next bloody person that asks me- Mr. McGee, that is- to contact their long lost loves? Is going to get their wish. Believe you me, this is not something you really want. Think they nagged you in life? S'worse in death. Tenfold.

Sod it all for a lark. I'm off down the pub- assuming I can find one in this bastard place not contaminated with pink glitter and roses. Happy bloody Valentine's, indeed.

[Zee] First round's mine, 'less you've conned some other sorry bastard into the flowers-and-chocolate buggery.

[Harry Potter kids] Right. Not in the habit of doing this, me. But desperate times Word on the street is, one of you has a recipe for a dreamless sleep serum. Payment's not an issue, but we'd like it on the quick, yeah? Two weeks is pushin' it, even for me.

[Stephen] A strikingly backwards bird seems to think you're worth a mention. Figured I'd break the 'rude git' routine and introduce myself.

John Constantine. I'm an old friend of Zee's. How goes, squire?

Sounds good. Nope, well I might have some but it's not like I want flowers and chocolates. Much rather have booze.

Good. I was never fond of being the sad stag bastard at the couple's brunch.

I have yet to find a reasonable escape from the fish-filled maw of Vegas. Anywhere you suggest, or am I picking a bar at random?

Wait. You 'might have some' what?

We wouldn't want that.

Anywhere's fine with me. I don't mind being away from Vegas. Quiet's always good.

Uh.. It's complicated. Technically I guess he's the father of my kid. In the future.

You know me, Zee. It's all about the reputation. And while 'sad, lonely bastard' is pretty par for the course, I don't need to fall prey to the desperate and dateless.

Well, first instinct is always good old London Town, but it's got to be past last call, there. Say we look outside the city, then? I'm not looking for atmosphere, so much as a proper G'n'T.

I could have guess 'complicated' with the vague mention, luv. I think I'm better off imposing a three-shot minimum on the rest of that story, though, don't you?

Don't worry, I won't ruin your reputation and tell people you don't want to be alone.

Yeah, I might know a good place but we'll have to take a portkey.

I'll definitely be more explaining when I have some drinks in me, definitely.

Good girl. You might get an extra drink out of me, for your trouble.

Can do, assuming I remember where the bloody thing is. Fixed-point magic, how passé.

So long as it wasn't a professional, I might not even mock you for it.

Where should I be meeting you, then?

I'll never turn down free drinks.

Well we could just teleport. I don't mind. Probably easier. [address]

A professional? Well.. that depends on your definition. You're probably going to mock me, yeah.

Meet you there.

Didn't figure you for the stupid type, no. Thankfully, our little outing tonight is being bankrolled by the Luxor hotel, so I don't even have to be a stingy git.

That much I can manage, I think. Been a while since I naffed about with a teleport, but then there's not much need on the Isle.

So long as it weren't the bleeding Batman, I'll try to contain myself. But that ponce is unforgivable.

You will indeed.

Well then by all means we should get the really good stuff if they're footing the bill.

Yeah I don't bother with it much myself.

Oh no, definitely not Batman. His name is Stephen.

It's always the good stuff with me, luv, and don't you go spreading rumors to the contrary.

Stephen. How... blissfully normal. Or is this one of those- No, you know what? I said three shots, I meant three shots. I'll meet you down the pub, and we can gossip then, aye?

I'd never.

Let's just say I taught him everything you taught me. But yeah I'll tell you. Meet you there.

Yeah, Zee and I go back. Which, from my side of things at least, is pretty fuckin' impressive.

She mentioned something about you, and her daughter. I'm a 'seeing is believing' sort of bloke, figured I'd give a 'how's your father'.

Oh? I know she knows Bruce Wayne, well, I believe he was the only one she knew here aside from me, but we're from different courses in each other's realities and what not, so I'm not at all surprised someone else finally showed up she knew.

Oh, yes, we have a daughter from our supposed eventual timeline. That's Annabelle. She's about, probably spending time with Tony Stark's daughter. Good girl and takes after her mother more than I care to admit at times.

I remember her saying Wayne was around. Shame none of the others are. I never knew many of her professional friends- had me own fish to fry, and whatnot- but they sounded decent.

Interesting. Never much struck me as the settling kind, but then, it's hard to, in our line'a work. I'm glad for her. Both of you. Keeps you alive busy, if nothing else.
