I shouldn't be alive, but I feel whole. There's no pain now. I should see if the cancer is still in my body.

Cancer's a lovely thing, isn't it? Cells working in harmony the way people never could, stretching, extending to a glorious multitude that the cells by themselves could never be.

Though if you wish to be cured, I could arrange it for you. Or simply see if you have it.

... oh, dear, I'm being rude. Have you only just arrived?

Cancer is a fascinating thing, yes. It changes people, make them see their lives in a new light.

How can you see if I have it still? Are you a physician?

Arrived? If by miraculously being alive again, then yes.

I never had cancer. I was strangled and thrown into a well. They wanted me to die, but I refused. That changes a woman. Makes her a little bit more... prone to act.

I was born with talents.

I know it sounds hard to believe, but you were brought here by a force greater than yourself. This [website] explains things.

Interesting...and more than a little disturbing on the eyes.

Life has a way of doing that to you. Molding you into a different person than you used to be.

What sort of talents?

But still true.

Yet so few people actually live. Have you seen someone when threatened with disease? Seen how shocked they are when their own flesh betrays them? As if it didn't happen every second of every day.

Some children played with blocks or dolls. I played with projected thermography and genetics.

That sometimes happens. The vortex will take people that've either just died or are near death-and yet in this world they're healthy.

This vortex decided that I deserved a second chance, I suppose.

Well, you're here obviously, so that must be the case. Wouldn't be the strangest thing that's happened here.
