Happy Easter
Who: Hinata for the first part. Feel free to respond with reactions or to come looking for her/call if she leaves you something ^-^
Where: Hallways of the Rising Sun
Summary: Hina plays easter bunny
Warnings: sweet and cute and possibly a little sad.

Easter Sunday was finally here, and it was time for the past two weeks of her planning to pay off. She had spent the night before hand dying eggs in her quarters and decorating them with little flakes of silver foil and putting together baskets. Now she was slipping quietly through the halls of the hotel leaving little gifts for her friends.

Her first stop was a quick elevator ride up to the apartment that Sasuke and Kabuto shared. This had been the gift she'd agonized over. For one thing she didn't know what he would like. And second off even if she did have an idea she was sure that the Uchiha was already planning to spoil him completely. After much debate she had decided to keep it to a bouquet of purple Dendrobium orchids and a box of gormet chocolate covered strawberrys. She was far to embassed to leave her name on the card however, and simply left it with Kabuto's name and the words 'Thank You.', and set the items just outside the door to be found later as she hurried back to the elevator.

Next she took a moment to sneak out to Shizune's desk and leave her a small basket of chocolates. The eggs in her basket were various shades of green and the girl felt a little badly over it's small size. But the secritary was always kind to her so she decided she couldn't be left out.  Likewise with Tenten, who's eggs were red and the basket left on the desk in her office. The head of security had often taken time to stop in and check upon Hinata. It was only right she stopped and left her a little something as well.

After a quick stop back at her room for more she hurried to drop two baskets in front of Naruto's door. One for him filled with pet toys and treats for little Foxy in hopes that it would keep him from tearing about the blondes room too badly. Hidden in the one with the bright orange eggs underneath everything was a box of condoms to make up for the ones he'd lent her.

Finally Hinata found herself standing in front of her cousins door, holding a large basket and wondering what she should do. In a way she wanted to see the look on his face when he found it. But she hadn't put her name on any of the gifts. Didn't really see the need to. In the end, she decided it was best not to bother him. He was probably still sleeping or trying to enjoy some quiet time after a hard weekend. The basket was set outside his door like the others.

His basket, instead of being filled with sweets and silly things, held an antique tea set. It had taken her weeks of calling around to shops to find the perfect one, something tradional and still in good condition, with a hardwood box for storage. No cracks or chips or missing pieces. Also in the basket were various loose leaf teas, a diffuser, sugar cubes and two jars of honey, one Meadowfoam, one Fire Weed. The eggs she had made for him were deep purple, and there were a few chocolate cordials and some more of the strawberries tucked in. After all it's not easter without something sweet. With her task done she padded quietly back to her room to clean up alone, hoping that her efforts would at least bring some happiness to what few friends she had here.

Neji had the notion of going to the kitchen to get some breakfast--he didn't keep much food in his own room before running a certain errand--and in his sleepy state, nearly stumbled over the basket in front of his door.

"What in the..." he murmured, backing up and kneeling to look at the basket. There was a little hardwood box in it, surrounded by boxes of teas and other things for making tea. There were also dyed eggs, and sweets. And he could think of only one person who would leave this for him.

Smiling as he took it into his room and set it on a low table, he pulled the box out and opened it, gray eyes widening as the tea set came into the light. Putting the box down, he carefully drew out one of the cups, almost able to count the individual brushstrokes that had delineated the petals of a single blossom. Putting it back in its padded bay carefully, then got up and went across the hall, knocking on the door. "Hinata?"

She was tired from the night of filling baskets and dying eggs. Hinata had just finished with her clean up and was about to settle down on the couch for a doze when she heard the knock at her door. Was someone up already? She hadn't expected to be figured out so soon. Opening the door, she was pleasantly surprised at who was standing there.

"Good Morning." said with a tired smile as she tried to smooth her hair back into place. "I hope you're well today, Niisan."

"I am." He smiled, ducked his head a little. "I..."

He was never very good with these things--words. Didn't use them much himself, except to engage in repartee with his clients, Sasuke, or whoever happened to start it. So instead, he stepped forward and took her somewhat awkwardly into a hug.

"Thank you."

Her cheeks glowed as she suddenly found herself against her cousins shoulder. In her memory Hinata couldn't think of another moment when he had initiated such a gesture with her. Taken her hand yes. Put an arm around her to steady her of course. But a hug?

It was exactly what she had wanted, had needed so badly these past few month.

Her chin quivering slightly she wrapped her arms back around him, hiding her face against his shoulder to keep the tears back.

"You're welcome."

After a moment Neji stepped back, embarrassed. "I will try not to gorge on the sweets," he said with a smile. "Shall I go get the tea set and make some tea? You look tired though," and he frowned. "I should let you rest."

She tried to hide her disappointment as he pulled away, glad that he seemed to be confusing it for exhaustion. Not that that would be difficult.

"Tea would be lovely, if you have the time. I can nap in a bit." Hinata managed another tired, but somewhat more cheerful smile. "I just haven't been sleeping so well lately. I'm fine, really."

Needless to say, there were benefits to working and living in a hotel. But at the same time, the concept held its drawbacks as well. For one, hotels rarely if ever closed except in the most extreme cases where it was near impossible to house anyone let alone those who had reserved rooms for a stretch of time.

And that meant days off were few and far in between. Especially for someone like Tenten. A person who prided in keeping things in tip-top shape. And trusting very few people to help maintain that status.

So it was after only an hour of extra sleep that the young woman was quietly and wordlessly making her way towards her office, oblivious to the fact of the holiday until she spotted the little basket of eggs sitting innocently on the desk. No card, no name. No one to suspect or even attempt to thank for the unnecessarily kind gesture.

And with a very soft smile tugging at the corner of her lips, Tenten supposed that had been their intention.
