Who. Samantha Ellis, Vesper Price, Anthony Baron & later the Sullivans
What. THEY CALL HIM THE /WINTER SOLDIER/.
Where. The fictional Stark Industries
When. Monday afternoon, April 28th 2014
Warnings. Violence. Lots and lots of violence
The hustle and bustle of Los Angeles had never appealed to Samantha. She wasn't a fan of crowds. Or people, really. She was only here to accompany Vesper Price to the fictional but very real Stark Industries on some errand for Parks. Tinkering with his toys down in the lab again no doubt, Samantha didn't ask. She'd come to Malibu to speak to them both about Avengers business, but only Vesper had met her at the door, babbling something about parts he needed and things she wanted to check on. Apparently even when the place was mostly fictional, you still had to keep it running. Samantha often wondered to herself how true that was for other places in their reincarnate's source. Was there still a fully functional Red Room somewhere? She'd made a point of not looking into it.
The two women hadn't had many opportunities to chat, so conversation was a little strained between them on the way there. Samantha was more of the strong, silent type, and Vesper was always moving, always buzzing over something. The Russian took to observing their surroundings and mostly not engaging between short exchanges, letting Vesper make phone calls and jot down to-do lists on her iPad. There was nothing out of the ordinary here, nothing out of place, but it was in Samantha's nature to be paranoid. It was why she was always wearing Natasha's wrist cuffs and belt of tricks. She didn't trust anyone, especially crowds full of strangers, and to some extent the two women were always potential targets. She had to be on guard.
"I'll be just a minute," Vesper called back to Samantha once they'd reached the doors, proceeding inside with Samantha close behind her. As they headed straight for the office someone at the front desk called out to Vesper that there was someone there already waiting for her. "Are you sure? I didn't see any appointments in the book. Who are they?"
Later Samantha would recognize the feeling that had accompanied her arm hairs standing on end, and remember it for next time.
