It was still well before the sun was set to rise and by all accounts, they ought to be taking advantage of the opportunity to sleep. That was easier said than done, however, for Eliot didn't want to pry his gaze away from the small crib that was positioned next to Fen's hospital bed. He'd been largely silent in the early morning hour, with his chin resting against curled fingers, watching their youngest daughter's back rise and fall with every quiet breath of air. She was here, safe and sound, precisely as she had been hoped for and promised.
It was only a matter of time before the sun would rise and visitors would come. This little girl had more of a support system waiting for her than he could have ever dreamed of. Lifting his eyes, he looked contently towards both his partners, a grateful smile evident on his features. Nothing had gone wrong and months of worry felt as though they'd rolled completely off his shoulders.
