log; kenzi & adam
Since arriving in LA Adam didn’t really know what to think. At first he figured this was some twisted version of a fresh start. Things back in Chance Harbor were naturally rocky. The Circle wasn’t really a circle anymore and then he was tasked to take care of the crystal skull. To get rid of it before it could be used. People expected things of him but Adam’s loyal morals went right out the window when he was drawn to it’s power. And then he was waking up here. With Diana and Faye and Cassie here too. It was something he didn’t expect. Then you had people telling him that angels existed and they were here to fight a battle that didn’t have anything to do with any of them. The real icing on the cake was the fact that he had to fight to the death with some girl who looked to be about the same age as him. Did they really expect him to take a life? The darkness growing inside of him was warring with his logical thoughts and he couldn’t figure out what he was going to do. Right now he didn’t want to think about it. He just wanted to grab a cup of coffee and clear his head. There was too much bloodshed going on already. Maybe avoiding Hope was the best bet right now. That’s what he was thinking when he exited the coffee shop and bumped right into someone. Lifting his hand to keep the hot coffee out of reach he eyed Kenzi and offered a small apologetic smile, “My bad, you alright?” She was on the run. I suppose being dropped into a different time meant she would be off Evony's radar. Though she'd take Evony over angels with a thirst for blood and violence. Death matches? Really? Worst of all? She had no idea how you found out. Was it a text message, a shady piece of paper slipped under your door? Or did you find out when someone attacked you? Kenzi had zero desire to die and even less of a desire to kill someone else! It probably meant she should be careful who she was stealing from. Maybe not give someone a reason to come after her. But nope. Stolen jewelry and money both rested inside of her jacket pockets from today's travels. She'd been eying up someone else when she walked straight into someone. "In one piece," she answered. She noticed his raised coffee and added, "Thanks for that." She was glad she wasn't going to be wearing hot coffee. To Adam it was all just some kind of sick and twisted joke. He knew that the Angels were testing them in one way or another but to actually see just how far everyone was taking things was enough to strike a little bit of fear into anyone. His thoughts kept coming back to the girls. The three of them. Fuck, man. Could shit really get any worse? He still had his own shit to figure out but thinking of ways to save someone else was easier. Why would he want to think about taking some innocent girl’s life just so the Angels could get off on the fact that he obliged? It made him sick to his stomach. Adam couldn’t help the breathless laugh that fell from his lips at that. It was twisted but he kind of mocked the others, because a lot of other people around the city were dead and not in one piece. “Lucky.” Lowering his hand he nodded his head as he eyed his cup, “Not a problem,” he titled his head. “You’re the new girl right?” He had seen her on the network. “I’m Adam.” "Showed up just in time for all the fun," she answered him sarcastically. Because apparently death matches appeared to be how the angels got their jollies. If they were even angels. Definitely seemed more like something the Dark Fae would be responsible for. "The names Kenzi," she introduced, giving him a friendly smile. "So, Adam, do you believe there are really angels and they are really behind this?" She had to ask. Everyone just seemed to accept it was angels and it just didn't seem like an angel thing to do. Didn't their request break the rules? “Imagine what you would have shown up for next week.” There was no telling what these angels had planned for them. This time death matches. What happened next time? And were they all just going to roll over and give them what they wanted? What the hell was the point. If they were going to kill them off who would be left to fight this war for them? “Nice to meet you, Kenzi.” His smile matched her own and he sighed at her question. “Honestly, I don’t know what to believe anymore.” He admitted as he slowly shook his head. “What I do know is I’m not jumping into any arena to kill off anyone.” I No one could make him do anything he didn’t want to. He had more resolve than that. “I’m afraid to think of what follows death matches,” Kenzi admitted. If this was the beginning and they had more tests...what would they force them to do next? It was a scary thought. She shook her head as if it would simply make all those thoughts disappear. “I like you already, Adam.” From what she’d seen so far there was only one other person that felt that way. Others seemed way too eager at the prospect of killing someone else. And the other side was ready to give up or take their own life. “This is all a little too weird even for me.” Adam couldn’t help the way his thoughts went. He was practical and he often saw the bigger picture. He didn’t see the point of the angels bringing them together here if all they really wanted to do was pit them all against each other. It just didn’t make any sense. “Yeah, I don’t think anyone wants to think about what will come after it.” he sure as hell didn’t. Laughing softly, Adam nodded his head. “Weird is probably an understatement. On the plus side it seems like your name’s off the list this round.” It looked like the newbies were getting a free pass but Adam couldn’t but to think about what kind of test would be put in place of that one for the. He shook his head and shook those thoughts away. “Hopefully all this shit dies down soon.” |
