While Jade took a couple pictures of the sign and the locals, Double H looked around, wandering not far from Jade's side as he looked for possible threats. Military habits died hard, even though the war was over

"Jade, this area seems safe enough."

"Right." She pointed her camera back up at the sign. "Ooh, is that sign awful. Who put that there?"

Double H smiled. "You could always ask, like it says."

Jade rolled her eyes. "Leave it to you to state the obvious." She lowered her camera and looked at the passerbys. "This is weird. Okay, does anyone know where that sign came from? And I suppose while I'm at it, how do you deal with peacetime boredom?"

Ed takes a paranoid look around for crows before stopping to talk. "I have no idea who made that thing. I watched someone destroy it once. Then I got to watch it come back."

Now he folds his arms across his chest. "As for your other question... Hmm. There's still work to be done then. Maybe work on dealing with terrorists that don't want to let it last for whatever bullshit reason they come up with?"

"Interesting," Jade said, eyeing the sign. Then she looked back at Ed. "We haven't heard anything from any terrorists. We pretty firmly put the people on IRIS's side and overtook the Alpha Sections. And with the DomZ gone, there's nothing keeping the Alpha Sections alive. The Hyllis government was in favor of IRIS. Now there's nothing but human interest reporting to do."

I'd focus on getting those members of the military that aren't caught up in the nastier stuff on your side first, make sure you have a wide range of support for whatever tricks might need to be pulled. That was how my brother's commanding officer operated, and he wasn't a bad hand at playing the game towards a nobler end."

"Well, considering the war was outside aggressors, I doubt that'll happen," Jade said, "but someone else suggested weeding out corruption in the regular army. Hub here protests this, but he's an honorable soldier who likes to think the best of his fellow servicemen."

Double H frowned. "I'm sure the governor would've said something about needing help if it were there," he said.

Momiji was in the area doing shopping, when she noticed a camera. Instinctively she dropped her hands to cover her skirt, but stopped herself short of it. Straightening her shirt again, she picks up the groceries, and walks over, still eying the camera lightly.

Smiling slightly, she perks her ears slightly, and responds. "Best I know is that it's the center of the Nexus, it tends to mess with people, and it's impossible to get rid of. And as for peacetime boredom, when you've been in as many wars as I have, you really should learn to value peace, no? It is after all, what soldiers fight for."
