Week 5 - Saturday AM
Characters: Grace McDonald and Chris Wells
Location: Grace's place at Siena Suites
Summary: Chris waits on Grace so they both can help with putting together a nursery for Kathleen.
It was mid-morning, when Chris came to Grace's suite wearing a fresh clean shirt, and a pair of new jeans that he had picked up at the Costco the other day. His face was clean shaved, and his hair trimmed at the edges. He had come to see if Grace was up to leaving her suite, and help with a small project. I
After yesterday's warning from Grace about the expecting mother, he expected Kathleen to hit on him the next time he saw her. Instead she asked him and Leo for help with building the baby changing station and preparing her spare room for the impending delivery. She also asked him to invite Grace up for pancakes.
Inside Grace's suite, he sat at the table, waiting for Grace to tie her shoes. "I don't remember the last time I had pancakes," he said holding his chin in thought.
"Yeah, our whole 'on the road' thing didn't really lend itself to being domestic. Sorry." She gave him a look that was a cross between a wince and a smile, which became a full wince, as she finished tying her shoes. "Ready when you are."
"Yup, I'm ready," he quickly finished the last of his coffee, and then got up to put the cup in the sink. "It was nice of them to stock our kitchens with the basics."
"Yeah," she said and then gave him a look that would lead him to believe they were back on the comfortable terms from before their previous talk. "So, you'll drink your coffee here and expect me to wash the cup?" She made a noise that was almost a snort. "Not your wife. On that note, you didn't even stay the night."
She was smirking at her own joke when she tested her ankle and took a couple of steps.
"Oh, should I have?" he teased back. "I mean if that's the price for coffee around here, how much are the pancakes going to cost me?"
Grace burst out laughing. "For that, you'll have to ask Kathleen. And when you find out, I don't want to know. Please. Please." She was still giggling when she took his arm for balance. "Come on, Romeo."
His smile grew wider to see that Grace was in a good mood again. They both had time to rest up after weeks of traveling, and it shown on both. They both walked together to the second floor suites with him helping Grace on the stairs.
