The last thing Finn remembered was the searing pain as Kylo Ren’s lightsaber sliced across his back. Then he blacked out. A repeat new experience. You didn’t get to be the best of the best at the battle simulations by passing out a lot. At least not for more than that momentary jolt that threw off your step a bit. Not… sleeping but not sleeping… Like one moment pulling the seat eject and hurtling towards the ground and the next waking up knees deep in sand. But this seemed to be the week of new experience after new experience after new experience.
He didn’t know how long he’d been out, just that it had to be more than that few second lapse. The darkness ebbed and flowed, pierced by pain and possibly movement, but never fully dissipating. At least until now. It could’ve been minutes. Or hours. Maybe even days. That was the unclear part.
Well, one of the many unclear parts. His eyes cracked open, squinting at the light. Where was he? A quick blink. His eye went wide, panic pushing away the fog. Where was he? No trees. No sky. No snow. Not where he’d fallen. Which was… good? bad? good? bad?
Good? Good. Yes. The room didn’t look like any he’d seen in the Starkiller or aboard any of the Star Destroyers. Sure, he hadn’t seen everything, but the First Order had a certain style and flair and this… wasn’t it. So, not back there. Please let it not be back there. But where was here? It didn’t look like the First Order, but it also didn’t look like any other place he’d seen. Not that he knew all the nooks and crannies the Resistance might have where they’d take him and-
Rey. He shot up, the name on the tip of his tongue. But all that came out was a hissed groan as he gingerly lowered himself back onto the bed.
