Brazil, Vietnam and Indonesia I think are were the three biggest producers. I'm not sure about Brazil and Vietnam, but in Indonesia there are a few plantations at the east end of the island of Java on the... something-or-rather plateau. It's up around 1,500m from sea level, anyway. The trees grow to about ten metres tall but they used to prune them to keep them a more manageable size, they have white flowers that grow in clusters, and the beans are actually seeds inside a fruit that looks sort of like a cherry. They're harvestable when they're dark red and each one has two seeds in it.
