Sirius bought a medium-sized black bird; it nipped gently against his shoulder as he carried it beneath his cloak into number twelve. Naturally, once they were inside the door it began to chirp loudly. Sirius swung around, driving his fist into the portrait which only wailed louder.

"Shut up, shut up, shut up!  " Sirius shouted at his mother's portrait.

He moved through the hallway, resisting the urge to stand and fling futile hexes at the canvas. In the kitchen he sat down behind the parchment and ink he'd prepared.

It was Sunday. Sunday afternoon, twelve thirty. Lunchtime. That meant that Andi was about to have guests.Guest, actually. Just one, a boy, teenaged or early twenties. It was like they could sense when she was making food. It was practically a proven scientific fact.

Because in nearly three years, she'd never had a Sunday lunch with just herself and Teddy (holidays didn't count). So, as always, she set an extra spot at the table, put a few extra drinks in the fridge, and filled a tin with biscuits. She took the chicken casserole out of the oven and set it by the window to cool, washing her hands and sitting down at the kitchen table.

The trap was set, now all she had to do was wait.
