Unfair fight
Who: Chloe, Mateo, Xander, Charlie, Derek Heller (NPC) and several NPC football players
What: A confrontation
When: 10.21.11 - Friday, After Practice
Where: WWHS locker rooms
Warnings: NSFW/Violence
God, it had been a long week. Mateo was insanely glad it was Friday. Even if he was working the whole weekend, it was still two whole days that he didn’t have to be at school. Practice was pretty good after school, and he was in a bouncy mood as he and Xander headed for the parking lot. They were gonna go out, the boys and their girlfriends, and get icecream. Mateo figured they all deserved a little R&R.
Of course, it would help if he had his car keys. “Shit,” he cursed, patting his pockets as they reached the parking lot. “Dude, I don’t have my keys.” He could have sworn he left them in his jacket pocket...Sighing, he dumped his kitbag and bookbag on the ground. “Wait here for the girls, I’ll be right back,” he said, turning on his heel and jogging back into school. There wasn’t that many people around - a few after school activities just getting out, teachers grading essays in a couple of the classrooms he jogged past. Ducking into the boy’s locker room, he headed for the back corner where he’d dumped his clothes, looking around for his keys. The air was thick with the fug of sweat and Axe, gurgling of the water tanks filling up after a round of showers drowning out any noise. Getting on his hands and knees, Mateo looked under the bench for his keys, letting out a soft ‘aha!’ as he spotted them, right at the back. He managed to fish them out, hearing a noise behind him as he did so.
He looked around, eye-level with someone’s knees. “Hey, man, I was just-” he looked up, words bitten off as Heller, of all people, kicked him in the stomach. Wheezing, Mateo tried to get to his feet, a flurry of footsteps as half the freaking football team appeared. Two of them pinned his arms - weres, though he couldn’t tell what kind. “Seriously?” Mateo quirked an eyebrow at Heller. “What the fuck, dude?”
Derek smirked a little, head tilting to the side as he looked over Mateo, drinking him in and plotting the next move. "Did you really, seriously think that I was just going to let you steal my girl and not do anything about it?" he asked him. "I let Chloe have her little bit of fun with you and now I'm tired of sharing her with you so I suggest that you back off before I make you back off," Derek said, narrowing his eyes as he folded his arms across his chest and began to pace back and forth in front of Mateo.
"See Chloe is the sort of girl that rides with guys like me but she likes to slum it sometimes. Charity cases and the like. Guys like you. Do you really, seriously think that she likes you?" He snorted a laugh and shook his head. "That's rich. Do you have any idea what she says behind your back?" It was lies, but Mateo didn't know that. He had a job and other shit that he did every day, there was no way he could watch Chloe every second of every day. No way for him to know what she did and didn't say about him. "She laughs about it. How you eat out of the palm of her hand like some fucking pussy."
Mateo growled as the two weres dragged him to his feet, holding him in place as Derek paraded back and forth like some kind of fucking supervillain gloating over the hero. “You’re gonna make me back off?” Mateo smirked at Derek. “That I’d like to see. Considering you don’t even wanna face me without your goons holding me back...” Mateo lunged forward as far as he could, just to see what would happen. Just to watch Derek jump. He ignored what the douchebag was saying; he didn’t know a fucking thing about Chloe, he’d made that much clear at Homecoming.
Derek did flinch, but only slightly. "Hold him tighter, fuckers," he told the two boys holding him. "I thought you had super strength or some shit. One little piddly were and you can't fucking hold him?" He was all talk, no action of course. The boys pushed Mateo back against some lockers, holding him firmly in place. "That's better," he hissed, glaring at each of them in turn before turning his attentions back on Mateo.
"You know that Chloe still spends time with me, right?" he asked, smirking a little. His lips curling in a devilish sort of way in hopes of getting a rise from Mateo. "She's trying to make some sort of statement with you or something, but she knows who to come back to," he went on. "She might let you kiss her neck, leave a couple hickies, but I bet you've never been in her pants. Never slid your hands into those pretty pink thongs she wears. Shame," he said, clicking his tongue against his teeth. "She's got a pretty tight cunt. Almost as good as a virgin."
Mateo snarled. Not because he believed Derek - no way in hell was he telling the truth - but because of the things he was saying about Chloe. The things he was suggesting. “You’re a fucking liar,” he ground out, struggling as the two weres - one was definitely a cat, maybe a tiger, the other he had no fucking clue - pinned him against the lockers. “She wouldn’t spend time with you if you paid her.” Hell, even then. Heller was a fucking asshole. “She only went to Homecoming with you because you made sure no one else asked. How fucking pathetic. Can’t get a girl to go with you just by asking, you gotta try and scare everyone else off?”
"I didn't scare anyone off. No one wants that bitch but me. And maybe a couple pathetic losers like you. I just like her because she puts out for me. What's your reason, Rodriguez?" he asked, stepping closer to the guy. "You might have given her a ride home from the dance, but that's all it was. A ride home. I took her. Met her dear old Dad. You really think you have a chance with her? She's going places, Mateo, places that don't involve lame ass losers like you."
Mateo just smirked, ignoring the ache in his gut from the cowardly move Derek had pulled, kicking him when he hadn’t known there was someone there. “If you met her dad for more than two seconds, you’d know better than to talk about her like that,” he growled. “You don’t know a fucking thing about her. Me? I’ve spent every day with her since the dance. So really, I’m curious,” he tilted his head, smirking. “When exactly have you been seeing her, hmm? I’m impressed, really. Because unless you’ve been waking her up after curfew, after she’s had a shower so her dad can’t tell that I’ve made her come, after she’s had her mouth on my cock,” and yeah, he was likely gonna regret saying that part. But fuck Derek Heller. He was the only one who got to touch her. Who got to see Chloe’s underwear. “I. Call. Bullshit.”
Derek had an answer for everything. "Do you really think her copper dad scares me?" he asked him. "Please. My dad would sue the shit out of him if he so much as raised a hand in my general direction." As for when he saw Chloe? "You work," he told him. "What do you think she's doing while you're fucking around at that old bookstore? Sitting on her ass pining for you. Yeah right." As for all the crap he was saying about getting head from Chloe, he rolled his eyes. "I call bullshit," he told him. "That bitch wouldn't suck a dick if her life depended on it. At least she makes up for it with laying on her back."
Mateo growled louder, wrenching one arm out of the weretiger’s grasp and lunging for Derek, fingers wrapping around his throat. “You shut the fuck up about Chloe,” he snarled, as they grabbed him again, slamming him up against the lockers, face first. He struggled, but their grip was too good. Good enough that they managed to ‘accidentally’ elbow him in the face as they turned him to face Derek again. Eye already starting to swell, he smirked at Heller as he coughed, clutching his reddened throat. “What’s the matter, Heller?” Mateo spat. “Cat got your tongue?”
Derek coughed once he'd been released, doubling over a little and backing up from Mateo. "No," he spat, straightening again and coughing once more. "Guess my tongue is sore from being shoved up her cunt," he hissed, eyes narrowing more so into a glare as he watched Mateo. "I usually don't eat girls out," he said. "But I make exceptions for Chloe because hers is so sweet," he smirked.
Mateo shook his head, jaw set. “You’re a fucking liar, Heller,” he insisted. “And you’re not gonna say anything to convince me you’re anything else.” He trusted Chloe, loved her. There was no way she was cheating on him. Not with Heller, of all people. “It’s sad, really. You’re fucking pathetic. Trying to convince me my girlfriend’s cheating on me, just because she chose me over you?” He smirked. “Whatever lets you sleep at night.” He cocked his head. “Just what is the fascination with proving to me that she’s cheating on me? You hoping I’ll break up with her? It’s not gonna happen, asshole.”
"You won't need to break up with her," he told him. "She's going to get tired of slumming it with you and come back to me anyway," he smirked. "But not before I kick your ass for putting your filthy paws on my girl in the first place." he said, stepping towards Mateo again and slugging him, connecting with his jaw only because the two boys were holding him in place.
He’d got in a lucky hit, mashing Mateo’s lip against his own teeth hard enough to split it. Other than that...it was a weak punch. Weak, and pathetic, just like Heller. Spitting out a bit of blood, Mateo licked his lip, and smirked again. “That all you got, Heller?” He asked. “You gonna let these guys hold me back, like a fuckin’ pussy? That how you do things?” He arched an eyebrow. “You can’t even take me on. Too fucking scared to.” He could tell by the uneasy shifting of feet either side of him that he wasn’t the only one who could see this wasn’t a fair fight.
It wasn't a fair fight and half of the guys there were only standing there still because they didn't want to face the repercussions if they'd left. They'd be shunned by the whole team. Popularity ladders would lose their rungs and they'd slide down until they were at the bottom with the AV kids and the Glee Club. They didn't want that. That didn't mean they really wanted to be part of this bullshit either. Holding a guy down and beating him wasn't part of the plan. The weres were only supposed to keep Mateo from kicking Derek's ass while he talked some shit.
All of this for a fucking girl.
Meanwhile Xander was waiting by his car wondering where the fuck Mateo was. "He said he went to get his keys," he told the girls. "I'm gonna go find out what's taking him so long. Be right back." Heading to the locker room, he walked inside only to get grabbed by a couple of the guys near the door before he could do much about it. "What the fuck," he said, struggling away from their grip, managing to slip out of their hold enough to get his hands up. "Touch me again and I swear to God I will hex the fuck out of you." The boys stood back a little but Derek scoffed. "He's full of shit."
Mateo struggled in the weres’ hold, snarling when their grip only tightened. If Xander had come looking for him, that meant the girls were outside somewhere. Alone. Oh, this was not good, in any way. “Look, just leave him out of this,” he said to Derek. “Your problem’s with me, right?” He quirked an eyebrow, straightening as much as he could with a meaty hand on each shoulder, squeezing hard enough to grind the bones together, making him wince. “So get your fucking weak-ass, pansy shots in, so I can get on with my weekend.”
"My problem is with anyone that sticks their nose in my fucking business. Including Sabrina over here. Hex me, motherfucker. I'd like to see you try it," Derek said, glaring at Xander. But no one got to say much else because after about two minutes of no Xander or Mateo, Chloe knew something was wrong. The girls headed towards the locker room and heard the commotion and shit talking from inside it. They knew they weren't allowed in there, but Chloe would be damned if she didn't find out what the fuck was going on, so she shoved the door open and with Charlie behind her, stormed in.
Seeing Mateo shoved against the lockers by a couple of big fucking bastards, someone smelling like cat and someone like some form of animal that just smelled bad, she saw red and before she could stop herself, she was rushing to his aid.
Mateo groaned as the door slammed open again, and Chloe and Charlie burst in. Yeah, because this wasn’t awkward enough. Jesus. He had to admit, though, having two angry lionesses fighting his corner? Yeah, that was a good thing. The two guys holding him had let go when the girls had burst in, and Mateo turned, immediately punching the tiger in the nose, hearing bone crack. Good. Fucker deserved it. He whirled around, looking for Heller as the tiger howled and clutched at his face in pain.
Charlie, meanwhile, headed straight for Xander. “What the hell?” She snarled, standing by his side, grabbing one of the footballers that looked like he was about to punch her boyfriend, twisting his arm up behind his back and shoving him into one of the lockers. She forgot all the techniques and warnings her dad had given her, too busy seeing red at the thought of anyone attacking her pride. And yeah, Mateo and Xander were totally part of the pride.
Xander felt a bit like a pussy being rescued by his girlfriend and her sister. Yeah, they'd never live that one down. Great. But that wasn't the point right now. The point was getting Charlie out of the mess before she got herself hurt. Not that it would happen, but still. "Charlie, come on, you gotta get out of here," he told her, reaching out to grab her, pulling her away from the guy she was shoving against the locker. "Come on."
Chloe forgot a lot but remembered some basic techniques. But techniques didn't really matter. She knew that the most weak and usually exposed place on a male was the groin, so that was what she went for. Her hands went to the other were's shoulders, pulling him forward as she kneed him in the crotch. And that left him pretty incapacitated. Good. He deserved it. "Are you okay?" she said, hands going to Mateo's face, looking over his wounds.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Mateo got to his feet, brushing her hands away from his face. He was embarrassed that Chloe and Charlie had ‘rescued’ him, even if he knew he would have gotten his ass kicked, otherwise. He glanced over her shoulder, growling when he spotted Heller, unharmed, glaring. “You little prick,” he snarled, stepping around Chloe, shoving Heller up against the lockers, punching him in the face. He held back, knowing that the mood he was in right now, he’d be lucky if he didn’t snap Derek’s neck. “You ever pull something like this again, and I’ll fucking kill you. You ever talk about her again, I hear even a fucking rumor that you’ve said anything about her, or us, and I’ll break your neck. I swear to fucking God,” he snarled, slamming Heller against the lockers hard to emphasise his words. “Are we clear?”
“I’m not leaving without Mateo and Chloe,” Charlie argued, refusing to let Xander pull her away. She never got to fight anyone, it wasn’t fair. She was never gonna get to practice the techniques her daddy had taught her. She watched as the were she’d shoved into a locker turned, coming towards them. “You little cunt,” the tiger snarled, rolling his wrist as he snarled at Charlie and Xander. Seeing red, Charlie drew back her foot, and kicked him, full-pelt, in the balls. She grinned ferally as he screamed and dropped to his knees, tears starting to stream down his face. Considering Charlie was the star striker on her team? Yeah, that one must have hurt. “Ok, now we can leave,” she said, grinning at Xander, her hands on her hips.
"You can keep your little slut," Derek told him, spitting out blood on the locker room floor. "Wouldn't want her used up cunt anyways." Chloe's eyes narrowed and it took all she had in her not to shove Mateo out of the way and kick Derek's ass herself. "You're such a stupid bastard," she hissed instead, walking over to him. "To be a slut, I'd have had to had sex. Stupid." Derek wasn't through talking shit, though, unfortunately for everyone.
"Oh?" he said, smirking a little. "Well you're obviously doing something. Does oral not count? See Mateo here was telling us all about it, wasn't he boys?" Derek asked, grinning at Mateo. If he couldn't have Chloe, fine, but he wanted to do all he could to make sure Mateo didn't get her either.
Xander pulled Charlie against him, not wanting to let her out of his sight for more than a second, fully prepared to zap anyone that came too close to her with some sort of defensive spell if he had to. He couldn't really do anything and he felt pretty fucking helpless at the moment. He was the weak one of the pack to say the least and he didn't like that feeling.
Mateo snarled, his eyes bleeding to gold. “Shut the fuck up,” he snapped, punching Derek in the jaw, hard enough that he heard something crack. He slammed Heller against the locker again, drawing his fist back for another blow, too angry to see straight, too angry to care.
Charlie was watching them with wide eyes, shaking a little as the adrenaline started to wear off. “Mateo, stop,” she yelled, wrapping her arms around Xander’s waist. Ok, she’d changed her mind. She never wanted to see another fight again. The blood on Derek’s face, Mateo’s fist, made her stomach churn. And not in the mmm-mmm rare steak kind of way she was used to. She hid her face against Xander’s shoulder, closing her eyes.
Xander held tight to Charlie, hand in her hair as if that was going to keep her from seeing any more when she'd already seen the worst. "Shh, it's okay," he breathed, not sure if it really was. Obviously something had snapped in Derek's face, enough that the fucker shut up, but something had snapped inside of Mateo too. Enough that Chloe saw it and shoved herself between Derek and Mateo.
That was probably a bad idea, but she had to do something. She grabbed his wrist and shoved him away from the other boy, back against the lockers nearest to them. "What the fuck are you doing?" she breathed. "You're going to kill him."
Mateo snarled as he was pulled away from Derek, blinking almost dazedly at Chloe. He looked at Derek, then at his fist, almost shaking as he realised what he’d done. “I...” He shook his head, reaching up to run a hand through his hair. And of course, that’s when a teacher walked in. Mateo, Xander, and Chloe’s English teacher, to be precise.
She looked around, taking in the two footballers on the floor, the tearful girl being cuddled by her boyfriend, Heller looking like his face was hamburger meat, and Rodriguez, his fist bloody, being shoved back against the lockers by Chloe Richards. “What the...” She sighed. “All of you, my office. Now. Miss Richards, help Mr Heller get some tissues to clean up that blood. Mr Rodriguez, help Mr...” she tilted her head, trying to see who was on the floor. “Matthews to his feet. Mr Russo, same with Mr Samuels.”
Great. Just great. Now they were all going to be in a shitload of trouble and all because of stupid Derek Heller. And now she had to help him? Chloe sighed, releasing Mateo and went over to one of the dispensers to pull some tissues from it, reluctantly going to Derek and helping him wipe his face off. "I'm sorry," she told him. "Even if you're a total fucking jackass and you deserved it," she whispered. It was all his fault that he'd gotten hurt, but that didn't mean she liked that Mateo had lost it the way that he had.
Xander reluctantly released Charlie, brushing his thumbs beneath her eyes as he caught her lips in a little kiss. "Call your dad," he told her. "He's going to find out about it anyways, might as well get it over with." Which was going to be just perfect with the caseload the guy had already. Peachy. Letting go of her, he helped the guy to his feet, reluctantly.
Charlie nodded, stepping out of the locker room and pulling out her phone. Oh boy. This was going to be a fun evening. Instead of icecream and cuddles with Xander, she had to explain to her dad why they’d all gotten into a fight. And she didn’t even know. She’d reacted on instinct - someone had been threatening Xander. That just made things even better. Sighing, she scrubbed a hand through her hair, watching as the football players limped down the hall, giving her and Chloe a wide berth as they all trooped towards the office.
