About: | This is the main community journal for Squared Circle a wrestling based RPG. . Please don't claim to be the actual wrestler you are playing, if you do not only will you look pretty stupid but you WILL be removed from the game, no questions asked. . Same sex relations (Slash) are allowed here so if that's not something you are comfortable with this may not be the place for you. Mature/adult themes are likely to be discussed or used as part of story lines within the game itself so for that reason if you want to join you must be 18 or over. Obviously this will have to be taken on trust but if you are found to be under the age of 18 your character(s) will be removed from the game. 1- Character Limit Squared Circle does not have a character limit at present because experience of RPing has shown that each individual writer is different in this respect. Some can handle a lot, some prefer only a couple. Please though, use your common sense and know your limits, two critters written well are always more preferable than five or more written badly. 2 - Updates The creative process is unique to us all. Whilst some people find death warnings an obstacle to that, in order to keep the game active they are in place here. Journals must be updated at least once every six weeks although the hope is that people will want to post more than that. Warnings will be posted to those who have characters at the four and five week mark, at that point those at five weeks will have one final week to update or that characters journal will be declared DEAD and that character will then be made available again. Surveys, lyrical posts and one liners are allowed within reason, but if they are used excessively at the expense of a full entry or to avoid the journal being declared dead action will be taken which could lead to the journal being removed from the game if it is felt to be appropriate. 3 – AIM Please make sure you have a screen name for your character in Squared Circle as soon as possible after joining if not before. AIM isn't the first choice for everyone for role playing scenes so locked posts and private messages or e-mails are acceptable too but a lot of people do still use AIM and as many journal sites do occasionally have problems with PM's having an screen name makes it easier for people to get in contact with you if they need to. 4 – Disclaimers Squared Circle doesn't currently have a website so an override code for each journal type cannot currently be provided. Therefore please ensure you have the standard disclaimer, "[This journal is part of a non-profit roleplaying community and is not intended to be taken literally as the character portrayed. We are in no way associated with the owners of the intellectual property the character belongs to. No copyright infringement is intended, nor do we pretend to own any part of said property, trademarks or characters. This journal may be subject to permanent suspension without notice at the request of the real person, trademark holder, copyright owner or agent thereof.]", in your user info and a link to the main community as a bare minimum. Any journal without this will not be accepted into the game. It's recommended that a link to the main community page is manually inserted into every entry as an extra precaution, information on how to do that can be found here, but if you need further help contact ringthebellsc 5 – Character Research & History This should go without saying but please, please take the time to research your character both before you apply and whilst you are in the game. Not doing so won't make you very popular with anyone, not to mention make you look like a fool. For example if you're playing John Cena he can't go out for dinner at the same time as he's on RAW, this is the real world and you're playing the real person and it's impossible for him to teleport. Over time characters will develop friendships, relationships, rivalries etc within the game. Please respect this as a lot of time and effort will have gone into it, on that note if you are coming in as John Cena and you want to have a relationship with Paul Levesque but he is spoken for you cannot break that up, talk to John, be friends and see what happens by all means but intentionally ruining a storyline will result in removal of your character. In the same vein it is against the rules to put actions, words or anything else into another characters mouth without first seeking the approval of the other writer. Basically use courtesy and common sense and don't do anything if you wouldn't like it in the reverse situation. Any queries relating to this should be directed to ringthebellsc 6 – Spoilers The USA isn't big enough for all of us to call home so for that reason please put all spoilers behind a cut tag until Wednesday for RAW, Saturday for Smackdown and until Tuesday for PPV's. That gives people the choice on whether to read them or not. Reminders will be given from the mod journal to anyone that forgets, because we're all human, but if it keeps happening in the same journal warnings will be given and as a last resort removal will be undertaken. 7 – Plagiarism Do NOT directly steal from someone, having a similar idea is ok, but directly stealing isn't and if it can be proven you are guilty of it you will be removed from the community. 8 – IC/OOC etc Let's be honest RPing is an escape for most of us so for that reason please keep IC and OOC (out of character) interactions separate from each other. Anyone who mixes the two beyond the usual chat that can occur between players risks being removed from the game. It doesn't need to happen so let's make sure it doesn't, trouble makers are not welcome here. If you know the identity of a characters writer please keep it to yourself, again we don't need or want to know. Intentionally revealing such information to another player will get you in trouble so again don't do it. 9 – Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar Again, we're all human and we all make mistakes. As a general rule though, dreadful spelling, punctuation or grammar will not be tolerated, if you aren't sure then use a spell checker, dictionary or get someone to read what you've written before you post it. N.B If you are playing someone who's first language isn't English or who is known to be dyslexic for example then some allowances will be made. Basically if your posts read like they are written by a child and not an adult, or are full of netspeak you won't be very popular around here. 10 – Hiatuses, Holds & Retirements Life outside of gaming can sometimes be very hectic or throw us curve balls we aren't expecting which mean gaming needs to be put on the back burner for a while, we understand that. Having said that whilst things like illness, bereavement, work/family issues and moving house are all examples of acceptable grounds for a hiatus things like “I feel burnt out and need a break” won't be. Whilst there isn't a limit of the number of hiatuses a person can request if they are very frequent and there isn't a good reason for it you may be asked to seriously consider if you can continue in the game. That might seem harsh but it's out of fairness to everyone, the requester included and hopefully would never be an issue anyway. Holds can be requested and if approved will be for a total of 48 hours except in exceptional circumstances. For point of note holds are until midnight on the end of the day they run out, just to make it clearer. You won't find permanent holds here, as nice as they might be in terms of principle it's not fair to people in the game or newcomers. On that note please be aware that retirements will be very rarely, if ever granted. Just as it's not fair to new or existing players to hold characters for too long it's also not fair to prevent a character from being played, especially not a popular one or important one like Vince McMahon for instance. That's not meant to be mean, it comes from many hours of frustration seeing it happen all too often elsewhere. 11 – Communties/Moderator(s) Journals squaredcircle - Main Community sc_icons - Icon/Graphic Community talentrelations - OOC Community ringthebellsc - Moderator(s) Journal 12 – Want to Join? Great, first check to see if the person you want to play is available, once you've done that secure an InsaneJournal here complete with at least one icon of the person you're portraying, the basic information about them, the required disclaimers (if you know the override codes that's great) if not then as mentioned above put a link to the main community in the website section at the very least as well as the standard disclaimer in your profile somewhere. Next add all the journals in rule #11 and apply to join the icon and OOC community only. Membership to the main community will be awarded to those who have proven themselves to be active. Do not ask to be added, if anything that will mean you have to wait longer for the reward. Then write either an introductory post or a full entry as your character, please note that if accepted you must write a second entry within a week of your initial post to remain in the game. Thirdly send a private message or e-mail, if possible both just in case one fails containing an example of your writing to the moderator journal. It can be a link to a writing journal, an aim example or a created scene featuring your character, it's up to you as long as it illustrates your writing and proves you aren't a robot. ;) The e-mail address is squaredcircle@mail.org Lastly fill out the application HERE, where it says Have you read and understood the rules? Please put “Boomer Sooner”. Your application will be dealt with as speedily as possible but please do not interact with anyone in the game until you are accepted. A quick note about styles Style of writing isn't dictated here as such except in the case of journal entries. Please write them in the first person. Locked posts and AIM or in character e-mail can be written however you wish but keep entries we can all see in first person please. These rules have been inspired by a number of games, it's impossible to credit them all individually but thank you to all of them for the many hours of fun and inspiration they have provided. Squared Circle would not exist without you! [This journal is part of a non-profit roleplaying community and is not intended to be taken literally as the character portrayed.
