Eowyn's heart sank as the King breathed his last. Glory and death. Death being the most likely option for them all. She sank down into the blood marred grasses of Pelennor Fields, she let the darkness take her. Having no strength left to fight it. She succumbed to the horrors that awaited her, as it was not a dreamless sleep. Yet one marred and pitted with her worst nightmares. Burning of Rohan, the death of Aragorn, followed by Eomer, Merry, and the rest of their army. Within her dreams Sauron gained the ring of power, and even though they had won the battle. The war was lost. All was lost. So in depth was Eowyn drawn into the thralls of darkness, that she did not know the change of the grasses beneath her cheek. The shift of the winds at her back. How day turned to night. All of this went unnoticed. As she was brought to a time and a place that was unfamiliar. Laura was not a stranger to hunting for new arrivals. Especially after dark. As the streak of light cast over the island she changed her course of action. Up, she moved up one building, then the next. Trying for higher ground, with sure foot and claw, she did not fear falling. Raising her head in the night breeze, she took in the scents of the island. She took in those who were now quite familiar. Searching for the one note that was not. Through the bodies, the emotions, the information she gained from each individual mote, she soon found the one that was new, the one that as fresh from battle. Laura wasted little time as she lept from the height. Landing in a crouch, she remained there long enough for any bones that cracked to reset themselves and heal. It took mere seconds. She was up and following the delicate trail the breeze had left. Finding the young woman in the park across from the hospital had been a rather odd coincidence. As her skin burned to the touch. And while she smelled of no illness that she was familiar with, it did not seem as if Eowyn was contagious. Swiftly she checked for wounds that were life threatening. Only finding the broken arm, she took it upon herself to hoist the fallen woman across her shoulder. Mindful of her broken arm Laura brought her into the hospital. And to the nearest bed. Drawing open the tablet she had adapted to this place, she sent out word across the network. With hopes that someone would know her. Or that one of the doctors was still awake. |
