CHAMPION INTERVIEW # 18 - Ziasudra!!
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name: ziasudra_fic
Your Team: Team Wartime
1. What made you decide to join the 2007 Snarry Games?
I was part of the Snarry O... er... Games last year and had fun writing my story. The team interaction aspect of the Games is unique and is something I enjoyed very much. So I decided to sign up again.
2. Which Harry Potter character is your favourite to write? To read? (any POV)
Snape for both. I love how he's the mean teacher, the evil Death Eater, the two-face, the spy, the prodigal, the immature grudge-holding Slytherin, the anti-hero... and so much more, all in one. This allows fandom to have virtually unlimited territory to explore Snape, and I love doing that both as a writer and a reader.
3.What brought Snarry to your attention? Was it a specific event/fic/picture?
The Harry Potter books themselves. There's such a chemistry between those two that I found myself wanting more of it after reading the books. I didn't start out looking for Snarry fics per se, but when I stumbled across some, I was immediately drawn into the ship.
4. What is your stance on "Quidditch-toned thighs"?
I thought it was original the first time I read it, a bit overused after the tenth or so times, and now that I've seen it much more than ten times, I think I just skim through the phrase and quickly move onto the next sentence with Snape's obsidian orbs.
5. Your own fanfiction (any fandom, any pairing): What do you think is your most underappreciated work? What do you think is your best work? Would you link them here for us?
I'd say my most underappreciated work is The Christ, a postwar gen Snape/McGonagall ficlet. It's not that it gets bad responses -- it drew more feedback than I expected when I posted it over at The Pit of Voles -- but there is enough variety of replies over at ff.net that I realized a good percentage of readers didn't fully grasp the depth and complexity of Snape's motives I had wanted to get across. Granted, it's not an easy story to understand, but I did feel a bit disappointed at not being able to share with readers the full extent of the original vision I had with this story.
My best work is probably No Sex, No Galleons. It was one of those stories that I "saw" in my head and simply wrote down what was already there. I fell in love with the fic at the first word and I think it showed.
6. In your opinion, will Severus Snape turn out to be 'Dumbledore's Man' in Book 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
Yes, and never a moment's doubt. *dons I Trust Snape button*
7. What do you think of podcasting, the newest fad in fandom? Would you like to hear one of your own stories, or one of your favourites voiced via .mp3?
I like podcasts, and I love being able to hear the voices of people I've friended but have yet to meet. It's a great way to remove another barrier that online interactions pose. I honestly never thought about having one of my stories read aloud. It'd probably be interesting to hear how the reader reads it (pauses, emphases, etc.) as compared to how I hear everything in my head.
8. What pairing have you never written that you would love to try one day? (Any fandom)
I still haven't written any Snape/Lupin, even though I've read quite a few stories of this pairing and liked them. I'm definitely interested in giving it a try someday.
9. What's your favourite kink to read?
I have a more-than-normal interest in rentboy fics, which is why I wrote one, lol. Forced bonding Snarries are always fascinating to read, since I can't picture a situation more doomed for failure than putting those two together. So when they work out, I always turn into a pile of goo in the end *g*
10. How do you feel about participating in this year's Snarry Games?
Excited! What better than to be part of something with so much Snarry love?
Thank you, ziasudra_fic!
Stay tuned for more Champion Interviews, and even more Crack!Art!
