CHAMPION INTERVIEW # 6 - pir8fancier!
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name: pir8fancier
Your Team: Wartime
1. What made you decide to join the 2007 Snarry Games?
I very much enjoyed the back and forth of the games last year: the juxaposition of Romance versus Angst. I think that this year's theme will result in just as entertaining stories. Plus I am a competitive bitch.
2. Which Harry Potter character is your favourite to write? To read? (any POV)
This is completely dependent on the story and what level of intimacy I am trying to achieve between the writer and the reader. I must admit that I find Harry's POV much more difficult to write than anyone else's because he is less flexible in terms of canon. JKR's written six books with him being front and center, and that make him less clay-like compared to the other characters. That's the salient reason why I find Draco Malfoy so easy to write. There is less written ABOUT him. We don't see the "softer side" of Draco. I will say that when writing a Champions!Draco, it is far to easy just to let my inner brat free. I don't even have to think about what I'm going to say. I just channel "want."
I really don't have a favorite character to read about. Although I have to say a well-written Snape will get me panting in a New York minute. That's why I love caligryphy's Snape. The snark, the wit! Instant pantymelt. Having said that, I am just looking for excellent writing. A writer with a pulse on their character has my soul. It doesn't matter who it is. Thinking about this further, I must admit that I tend to read stories with male-dominated plots, but I think that's because JKR doesn't write well rounded women, as a rule. I don't have much interest in reading Molly Weasley fic, or Luna fic (she's more of a gag than a character). I feel the same way about Tonks. I find Hermione interesting to a point. The only female character that I think could own me would be Pansy Parkinson.
3.What brought Snarry to your attention? Was it a specific event/fic/picture?
The two fics that stick in my mind are A Choriambic Progression and So Lonely Without Me. Until I had read those two fics I wasn't even remotely interested. Then when I realized the potential dynamics, how delicious this pairing could be, I was off and running.
4. What is your stance on "Quidditch-toned thighs"?
Is this a trick question? Like stance and thighs don't go together like ham and eggs? It's not my stance that matters. It's Oliver Wood's stance.
5. Your own fanfiction (any fandom, any pairing): What do you think is your most underappreciated work? What do you think is your best work? Would you link them here for us?
My most underappreciated work is Let's Pretend the War is Over (Harry/Draco). I have to admit I am completely biased about this because it is an extremely personal story dealing with my own lost and depression. My best work is This Boy's Life. I think that what I accomplished as a writer, there is only ONE fresh idea in that piece (the bit about Snape twigging to Black's desire for Lupin, which is what spurred him to lure Snape to the Whomping Willow), everything else is suspected canon. It's told from Snape's POV and I think that all the stories appear fresh and vital. As an writer, that made me proud.

6. In your opinion, will Severus Snape turn out to be 'Dumbledore's Man' in Book 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
Well, if you read "This Boy's Life" you will know that, yes, Snape is Dumbledore's Man to the nth degree. That story defines how I view Snape's role in the larger story.
7. What do you think of podcasting, the newest fad in fandom? Would you like to hear one of your own stories, or one of your favourites voiced via .mp3?
I'm definitely interested and would love to hear one of my own stories on a podcast. I would love to READ one of my own stories, frankly.
8. What pairing have you never written that you would love to try one day? (Any fandom)
I would love to do a broad treatment of Lucius and Hermione involving polyjuice potion.
9. What's your favourite kink to read?
That kind of changes depending on the writer. Some writers can take anything and make it my kink. However, I must admit to being very turned on by bondage and rimming.
10. How do you feel about participating in this year's Snarry Games?
Excited as all hell!
Thank you, pir8fancier!
Stay tuned for more interviews tomorrow!
